I can brag and say i rode through that all alone but my rear tire didn't give me much grip. So i had an extra HP behind the NC

She was saying: "Stick to the left of the puddle and it's ok. I'll push!"

What tires are you using??

K73 Heidenau on the back. Works well allround. But little to no grip in the mud. The TKC70 was better for that.
A BW501 on the front. Once but not again. I'll try anything more offroad oriented after this on the front. the TKC80 lost it's blocks much too easy after a few thousand km's.

I found out Knobbies don't necessarily equate traction in mud such as you pictured.
The extra HP in the rear, now that's motivation!
Good for you, going after that much fun on the NC!
;)

Just got to get the RIGHT knobbies, ones with more open pattern that clears out quicker. But on a heavy machine that means even faster wear than it does on a lighter dualsport, and the choices may not be as diverse. Even on my WR250R I traded some mud capability for better wet and dry pavement behavior and longevity. On it I can air way way down anyway for the worst off-road, since I have Tubliss™.

IMO, airing way down on the rear tire is the single best
strategy to ride through extended muck.

Too bad they don't make Tubliss for wider rims

I put 2.5 in the front and 2.9 in the back. I didn't want to hurt my rims going over the belgian cobbles.
I don't race over these paths. Like some of the others did. I just take it easy. And shake my weight about to keep balance. :)

That belly protector got a serious workout.

Had to hammer it back into shape.

Hey Bert, is that skid plate your project, or a commercial product?

Awesome!! Actually any bike with some torque can do this.
I remember doing "off road" on holiday in Koh Samui on rented 70ccs Honda Cubs....there were 6 of us....racing around the island and going uphill.... (our big bikes were parked at the hotel)

I preferred Haad Rin Beach across on Koh Pha Ngan for the full moon parties, after racing around during the day on those bikes to snorkeling spots.
