Oh I'm well aware that of that, that is why I won't be having it done (hopefully).

I think I mis read Pprior's post, I thought he was asking if the odometer randomly resets.

It was early and I couldn't have been properly awake. ;)

I've had no issues with mine and I would hope that after 10 months and 3200 miles any problems would have surfaced by now.

I've refused Honda's kind offer and they have confirmed that there is no end date for the recall, so if or when it needs doing, they'll do it.

I'll wager that you have your HISS indicator light set to on? You know the little red flashing light on the dash when the ignition is off for the first 24 hours.

Mine was set to off and I was getting random the resets, as soon as I switched it back to on, the resets have vanished, so far. (Touch wood!)

The frunk lock is only on a specific range of VINs, they checked today and my bike is not in the list for that product update.

I just called my dealer, LandAirVT, the service dept. says my 2014 bike qualifies for the frunk lock upgrade and that all of the 2014 bikes are part of the product update but they could not see the date range of the update, just that my bike's VIN is included.

I asked if I would be getting a letter on the frunk lock and the answer was no.

I'm wondering if I should just remove the hooks under the rear seat that the lock mechanism latches onto. HondaBikePro's rear seat plate is very tempting.

I can also confirm the frunk lock recall is not for all 2014 models, only a specific range of VINs. My dealer says there was a defective run of parts and not all 2014 models are affected, but all need the new display update. Parts numbers are the same for the frunk lock 2012-2015, so I believe my dealer. My 2014 did not qualify for the frunk lock recall and I haven't had any problems.

...... HISS indicator light set to on? .....the little red flashing light on the dash.....

My USA Owners Manual does not show a dash HISS indicator light. I'm assuming then, HISS is on bikes other than USA and it stands for Honda Ignition Security System.

I had my dash replaced along with new tires a couple of days ago. I still need to set the clock... (It would've been nice if they did it...but) The recall and techs said they would put a nice big decal stating the cluster was replaced and at what mileage, and they did. So hopefully when/if I decide to trade/sell it there should be no headaches like happened with my last Ducati. Now I just have to keep track in my head for when all the actual services are due... (Grrrr)

You're the guy that said the Ducati was like a bad ex right? You're the reason why I'm not going to change the instrument cluster on mine. The bike is not as filling as my sport bike and if I decide to sell I definitely don't want any problems in selling it. Essentially you're trading memorizing trips for memorizing service intervals. Honda f'd up.

YEP---That Ducati was like a stalking Ex. I still hear about it from time to time. The Honda is nowhere close to giving me the trouble that Multistrada did, but if it does, maybe I'll trade it for a Ducati. :D Turnabout is fair play and al that lol. My Victory Vision is my long distance, no drama, trouble free bike...so far.

IMHO, I think it was the way it was handled; Honda gives you a service record, a sticker, the VIN will show that the miles were set to zero at xxx miles. Hence, when the bike is sold, there are plenty of documentation that Honda reset the meter to zero and not the owner trying to pull a fast one.

2014 trip meter reset

So I just spent the last several hours trying to find definitive answers to the 2014 trip meter reset issue. Lets bring this back up to the top as there are still 2014s in dealer showrooms right now. I just bought one yesterday.

Issue: random trip meter A & B resets

Fix: New Dash? I thought I read somewhere it was a software patch

Type: Product Update

ID: What is the update # or S.B.#

Applicability: All 2014 NC700x? Is this accurate? Are some immune?

Confirmation: Sticker on frame or in frunk. A stamp on the rt side of the frame back from the steering tube? thanks Flaferalcat for the pic of his sticker. See post #99

Misc: Honda is sending out letters to owners, but the dealer won't inform you of this info. YOU need to contact the dealer if it is happening to you and set up the repair. Thanks again to Flaferalcat for the pic of the letter. See post #107.

Make this a sticky for the next couple of years just in case or for people buying used 2014s down the road?

My dealer told me a customer has to notify dealership about the problem and they order a new dash for you after your request. Looks like Honda tries to keep it low and do not buzz about it much. They were trying to install a new dash from those they had in stock but later told me they were not able to do it as each item has to be ordered for a specific customer and Honda doesn't release just a bunch of those dashes for stocking at dealerships. Yes you will get a sticker stating the date of service and actual ODO reading at the date of the service, they put it inside of your frunk. I did not have any resets now 2000+ km after replacement, so just call and schedule the service.

It is a well-known issue and well-known recall, regardless of those websites. I got my notice in the mail last week for my 2014 NC700XD. I just need to make an appointment to get it swapped out. Yes, it will reset my mileage back to 0, but it will be a new unit.
