So how can there be a picture of a sargent seat if they are not making it yet?

Or have I been mis-informed? I WANT TO BUY A SARGENT SEAT...but my understanding is that it is not yet being produced...ANYBODY KNOW???

Thanks,
ROB Ray

Sargent doesn't currently make a seat for the NC, but they will re-build your seat. If you go to the Sargent web site you can find their price list for custom seat services. You basically send them your seat, tell them what you want them to do, and they modify the seat to your specifications. Depending on how busy they are at any given time they also sometimes offer ride-in service. That's where you ride to their location and they re-build your seat while you wait. When they did mine I got there about 9am and the seat was ready by about 1 PM. When I talked to the Sargent rep he said the November or December time frame is the time of year when they typically find it easiest to schedule ride-in appointments.
FWIW, the picture of the Sargent seat in this thread is mine. I had them re shape, dish, re foam, and cover the front seat with carbon fiber look weave. They also re covered the rear seat to match the front. There are a few more pictures in the members section of the forum photo gallery.

Ordered my Corbin - front ( non heat option ) and rear yesterday from the Florida Corbin store - both in stock and should have next week - My butt is already looking forward to that.

I'll post my thoughts after a long ride. Later

Has anyone requested a Corbin seat without the big "Corbin" advertising on the side, and did they build it without it for you?

dirt road's seat

Unable to post pics direct to forum, above link should take to my seat pics on photobucket. Originally sent seats to Eddie to alter and re-cover. Better, but as I was headed to his neck of the woods to partake of great riding in TN, NC, and N. GA I contacted him and made arrangements for further alteration. The results were excellent for me. He still does a lot of FZ1 seats("dirt road" on FZ1 site). He usually has a 1 day turn around and does excellent work. He charges $210 to alter driver's seat and recover driver/pillion seats. The cover on mine is called "Wave", carbon fiber is also available. Both styles are marine grade vinyl. I specifically asked him to reduce the front of the pillion seat.

His email is Eddie Copeland <[email protected]> for anyone interested.

My corbin is listed as being on the truck for delivery today. I'm hoping for a more comfortable ride this weekend.

Looks really good and the price is probably the best I've seen. Congrats on a getting a great deal! You might want to start a new thread called "Copeland Seat Mod" and see if you can now post the pics so people searching can find it easier.

What up dog? Couldn't resist. Tried 2 different ways to post pics, neither worked and i got the exclamation point of death... Had posted pics recently of Eddie's work on my FZ1 seat and no problem. Found several other comments about being unable to post with a few work arounds which seemed to be too much trouble. That was why I put the link to photobucket. You did have a great idea about a new thread though and I'll follow up on it tonight if I can get the pics to post.

This problem posting pics is a big deal. It is affecting the quality of this forum. I hope there is a fix for this soon.

Not much, but I did just have a problem trying to post a pic of a GIVI V46 top case in another thread. Was using Opera as my web browser and couldn't do it. Logged into the forum with Safari and had no problem doing it what so ever. SO you might want to try a different web browser, or at the very least, restarting your current browser (or PC) and see what up then.

On another thread, I see Fuzzy is doing his ride-in to get his Sargent today/tomorrow. Hope to see a review of the ride home upon his return.

I know I said (above) I may have the stock seat for a while as even the cheap seats are pricey but have a birthday coming up & the wife suggested over lunch she would be up for getting me something for the bike so if I drop the right hints on a seat. . . . However, that means I'll have to make up my mind and decide which one.

My corbin arrived today, I ordered a smooth seat without stitching but received stitching and pleats. The fit was difficult, it takes considerable force to close the passenger seat. I hope it settles in as I don't want to go through the hassle and expense of returning it. I don't think it was good value for money, I recommend anyone considering a seat consider the other options first.

Bummer. I've read so much on this forum about the inconsistent quality for several of the brands. Some have great fit & finish, others, not so much. And, in your case, you didn't even get what you ordered.

I can give you a little feedback on the Sargent. I live about 50 miles south of Daytona Beach and 140 miles south of Jacksonville, which is the location of Sargent Seats. Before they did my seat, I would have discomfort by the time I rode to Daytona. After my seat was done I took a ride to Sargent and had about the same degree of discomfort by the time I got to Daytona, but this time it was on the return home, so I figure my seat time more than quadrupled (50 miles before, 230 after). The problem with this observation is that it may have no bearing on anyone else's results. Not only is everyone different, but I imagine the seats will be different too. Since there is no current off the shelf seat from Sargent, all the seats are custom built for each individual customer. They just do the modifications you request, and you may want something different from mine. I can tell you their craftsmanship is excellent and the fit on the bike as well as the alignment of the seams between the front and rear seats is perfect.

Hope this helps,
Bob

I know this is not a custom seat, and I have paid my share of money over the years to replace crap stockers, but the Airhawk I'm using on my saddle is inexpensive and really works well. When I stop, I throw it in the saddlebag which keeps it secure. When I ride, I can stand up and the pad stays in place. It looks ok on the bike and it is just an option for those that are not happy with the stock seat. I could ride another Ironbutt easily with this pad on this bike.

I will always have an Airhawk with me when I ride distance. Now that I have the Seat Concepts seat, I may or may not use it. I haven't done real distance with the bike since I got the new seat, but I will have it along with me when I do and will use it when I need it. I've ridden many many miles with my airhawk and have always been very happy with it. It will always be on any long ride I go on.

Glad to read the Seat Concepts works for you. I think I will order one too to see if it works as well as the Airhawk. I like to keep the lines of the bike clean (without using an Airhawk) but will keep the Airhawk close by until I know for sure. I have used Rick Meyer for several bikes and he is very good, but expensive. I have also used Baldwin. Not bad but not as good as Rick. Corbin just did not have the feel I was looking for when I tried them. This Seat Concepts looks like a good option.

I agree, the Corbin is definitely not a big enough improvement to justify the cost in my experience. Try before you buy if possible.
