I have had both bikes. Currently own a 2009 BMW G650GS and a 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 300.
I do like the 650 better for more passing speed in the higher gears and higher rev limiter.
Both bikes (NC and BMW) are very similar. I like the seat on the BMW better.
I miss the frunk greatly. The NC700x...
The add says "most versatile sport tourer". It only gets 44 mpg. I don't see where it
gives any indication of the gas tank size.
I wouldn't spend that kind of money for a touring bike that only gets 44 mpg. My BMW
G650GS gets 60-70 mpg and only cost me $6000. It is great for touring. Comes...
Currently I don't ride an NC700x anymore. But it will give you pretty much everything
you want. The front trunk is also great for extra baggage space. There are a few bags
you can buy that easily strap on the back. It is great for commuting and traveling.
The rev limiter may be the only draw...
I have put 2000 miles on the BMW 650 with no problems so far. Riding in cold is good
too as the engine generates heat near your legs and the tank seems to keep the wind
off my upper legs. I use shin guards that sort of act as fairings.
Just wish it had a better sounding tail pipe.
Been riding the 2009 BMW G650GS and so far it is a great bike. No problems
at all. I put a Ztech windshield on that is great and installed much larger
foot pegs.
There are things I miss about the NC700x but then if I lost the BMW I would
miss things about that bike. They are very different...
I have gotten burned by not having full coverage on cars. So now I make sure I have full coverage on everything.
Rider Insurance covered the full price of my Bell helmet, jacket and gloves and sent me a check to replace them.
Deductible on the totaled bike was $50 and they gave me $6,106 for...
Well, on the BMW the turn signal is aligned directly to my thumb. On the NC700x it is not. The
horn is in direct alignment with my thumb. (Maybe I have different sized hands...)
I'd love to have another NC700x but they only have a red one there and the new ones only come in black and red I think.
I do not like those colors. Plus near $9000 out the door now. Then I have to get my heated grips put back on.
The G650GS is much easier to flick around and has higher gears...
I think more like 50 HP and 44 ft/lb. of torque from what the manual says. It has better passing speed than the NC700x.
It feels slightly faster. Also no short rev limiter to annoy me.
Yes, I am giving up the frunk. What expensive future repairs am I getting into? Many around here run them and...
Glad you are o.k.! My bike didn't do as well against hitting a deer spot on. Bent
my forks and pretty much mashed all the front plastics. They totaled my bike. :(
Wearing gear is a good idea for anyone. I was riding for 3 years and no accidents
until the deer came along.
