2 up Strategy
First time two up, honda 70, down two blocks to her favorite restaurant. We had to push the bike back. Just gave up the ghost.
Second two up ride, Honda VT1100, (much more comfortable) down 4 blocks to her second favorite restaurant. GLad to ride back..
Pretty much...
Can you describe the type of riding you're doing to get such mileage. I commute to work, 11 miles of freeway, where I try to keep the bike at 64 mph or so.
Loose spots in chain @ 580 miles
Okay, the chain has loose spots. It tightens and loosens about 3/4 of an inch. This can't be good for the sprockets. Should I replace the chain with a DID while the sprockets are fairly new, or, just ride it and replace the chain and sprockets when the whole...
On occasion, the fuel pumps on bikes fail. Poor running would be consistent. On the East Coast you're seeing some E-15 fuel being sold. It goes bad, separating into alcohol and fuel. E15 can dissolve some rubber components.
I continually find myself splashing gas out of the fuel fill into the basin, or worse the seat. Your aim has to be true to get the fuel into the tank w/o a splash.
The NC700 will take some modifications to do high mileage. I think you would need more wind protection and a better seat. With regular maintenance, the modern, water cooled engines will last a very long time.
The dealer called and said my chain has loose spots. They'll call Honda tomorrow. They were doubtful that Honda would replace a chain with loose spots. I never had one develop loose spots at 550 miles.
My dealer said that Honda had a run of bad sprockets. They were out of round. I pointed out that my chain tightened and loosened when turned. They took my bike in to check the chain/sprockets. (550 miles)
I was looking for running lights. The regular head light offers plenty of light for me to see. These halogens look like they might do the trick:

I noticed this afternoon that the chain gets tighter when I sit on the bike. So, a perfectly adjusted chain on the center stand wont be when I sit down on the bike. Last week I discovered the chain was tight on the center stand. I can only imagine how tight it was when I was on the bike...
I checked my chain at 400 miles and found that it was tight. I loosened it to about 1" slack in the center. I was surprised at how much better the bike shifted afterwards.
On another matter, I was disappointed to find the chain had stretched a bit. As I turn the rear wheel, the chain...
