All you have to do to see this film is real, go to a dealer that has lots of new tires on a rack and run your hand over them. Even with car tires at a dealer or at Walmart some tires are scary slippery. This is a new problem for me, motorcycle and car tires didn't use to be this slippery when...
You did say you bikes were outfitted differently. Different windshields perhaps? There have been many post about the wind being a big factor in MPG.
Were both bikes filled to the same level at the beginning and end of this test. Do both bike have about the same mileage on them? One bike broke in...
I also have a zip tie on my fork tube to check travel. On my normal ride to work with out hard braking I only use 2 inches of travel even though I have a harsh ride over several cracks across the road. Under heavy braking I use 4.25 inches of travel. If Honda would have given us drain hole in...
Hi Mojave, I " feel" your rear brake complaint. I have 3000 miles on my bike and have cleaned my rear brake rotor ( a suggestion from my dealer) with brake clean at least 1/2 dozen times. Its much better power wise than when new. Maybe my feel problem is that I'm hitting the bottom of the rear...
Sorry about your crash good your ok. This is the kind of crash we use to have with DT Yamaha's with low mounted front fenders. The mud would build up between the ft. tire and fender causing the ft. tire not to roll so good. This is why dirt bikes have high mounted ft. fenders.
My problem with the rear brake on my nc700x is the hard pedal and lack of any kind of pedal feel. If I had the time I would be interested to know what other Honda motorcycles use the same rear master cylinder and caliper. My wild guess is that Honda had some old rear master cylinders that they...
My motor doesn't much like below 3000 rpm's in 6th gear either so I don't do that. Do yourself and your motor a favor and don't lug it so much. A NC 700 is much happier at 4000 rpm.
The switch for the front brakes is mounted under the ft. brake lever. I would first look to see if both wires going to the switch are connected. My front brake switch make a clicking sound when I apply the brake. If the wiring is connected and you don't hear the noise the switch is bad or stuck...
Some guys look forward for cold weather riding. :) This is Michigan's XR750 mounted rider Brian Smith at Freeze Fest National from about 5 years ago. Track was a 1/2 mile ice oval with speeds over 90 mph on straights , temp was 10 F above. Wind chill was bad at that speed and guys were saying...
If your shifting by the shift points in the manual your hurting not helping mpg. Like other have said the NC motor is happier at 4000 rpm. It takes less throttle opening when in traffic to run 55mph in 5 gear than 6 th gear. For me weight and wind are a bigger factor than how hard I rev the...
I just bought a Sylvania Xtravision # 9003/hb2 bulb and it is brighter than stock bulb and should be longer lasting than the Silverstar bulb. It was only $11.00 and with my adjusting the aim I think I will be happy with the results. Thanks Harald for the link to Stern Lighting, it was helpful.

This beach is at Tawas Point State Park. For all the lighthouse fans here is the Tawas Point Lighthouse. I couldn't get my NC in this picture without breaking some rules. This was a 240 mile round trip ride last Sat. Got 74 mpg and passed a lot of cars and...
I played with my headlight adjustment tonight and had to lower my light 4 full screwdriver turns on the adjusting pinion ( page #98 in owners manual ) just to get the light to shine on the road. The part # on my bulb is 94193 HD its a 60/55 watt. I'm guessing this is the same used in Honda cars...
I raised my headlight one turn with the adjusting screw on the back side. I found out this weekend that it is worse and will have to lower it. I'm going to look for a bright bulb if there is such a thing for the nc. I run with my brights all the time in the daytime and most of the time at night...
Hi Maxou, looks like you had great weather and a good ride. The leaves are just starting to turn here in Michigan. My brother-in-law has a Harley that looks like that one except he has the screaming eagle pipes. His bike is so loud he has to run his radio on max just to hear it. I don't ride...
I have had no problem commuting with Bridgestone tires that came on my NC700x and I have been caught in the rain many times. I didn't like the looks of no tread in the 1 inch wide center of the tire. Also I didn't like their performance on dirt roads so I finished cutting the groves where...
