Shoe Rubber on exhaust, any suggestions?

People are forgetting there are different grades of steel wool. 0000 Grade will NOT scratch the pipes and is a great general polishing option when used with an appropriate polishing agent. Surface must be clean of course. I would follow itlives advice.

    Possible engine issues

"The ECU on your bike will compensate for most changes in exhaust or air intake." X2 as long as the modifications are reasonable. The fuel injection system makes use of narrow band sensors, so if you were to go into the engine and make major mods (not even available) you would need the Bazzaz...

Exhaust Availability......where o where can my new can be!

See if you can find their Cat Eliminator in the meantime. You'll love that as well.

Learned an important lesson while doing my 600 miles oil change

Use the center stand, makes checking the oil much easier and is a proper way to check it. I get the same reading on the center stand vs. holding the bike upright because the bike simply needs to be vertical, which is what the center stand does. Works for checking chain tension too with virtually...

    Which model year to buy?

If I could have found a deal on a 2012 I would have taken it. Unfortunately for me my dealer can't seem to keep the NC in stock, while a few dealers in the U.S. have leftover models. I don't like the seat on my 2014 as much as the 2012-2013, and the plastic under the rear seat doesn't look as...

    What's the difference

The seat on my 2014 is exactly the same as the 2012-2013 except for the cover. I actually prefer the 2012-2013 seat cover over mine, but I can't get my riding partner who has one to exchange! Other than that the bike is the same except for the instrument cluster where I have a gear indicator...

    10W40 after 10W50?

10w30 or 10w40 is specified in the service manual. Finding a JASO MA 10w30 locally is next to impossible, and even dealerships use bulk 10w40 for all their bikes. A favorite of many people is Shell Rotella, either the 15w40 or 5w40 synthetic that meets JASO MA and is readily available and a...

Very good point to bring up if true!

    Fork Seal Protectors??

Unless you put them on crooked which would look awful and defeat the purpose of them, there is no problem with them hitting the fairing.

    Fork Seal Protectors??

Kit fork protector. Fork Protector Kit. Triumph Trophy 900 # A9641010 I think these are what you're looking for. Fit like they were made for the bike.

    Aftermarket Exhaust

Leo Vince Cat Eliminator with stock end can. Better performance than any slip-on, better sound from stock exhaust, cheaper than most end cans. Took someone's advice on here and tried it and I'm very happy with the performance/sound improvement. If you want really loud, you'll need a new end can...

    will never buy another Honda

The 280 kit is what destroyed the reliability of your dad's XR. I used to race enduros with them and have worked on lots of them. The high output Al Baker kits will substantially reduce the reliability and are best left for racing.

Sargent Seat, Pre-Registering NC700X for Seat Development

After so many people were waiting so long for this seat, it's disconcerting to read that there are consistency/fitment issues after all this time. Really too bad considering all the high hopes.

    Supertrapp slip on exhaust?

I love Supertrapp exhausts for the quality and tuning of back pressure with the discs. Doesn't look like you have an attachment bracket for this one to fit, let alone a center stand bracket. I wanted a better sounding exhaust and took someone's advice on buying a Leo Vince cat eliminator. It was...

Order placed, new NC700 arrives in one week

With the engine announcement for the new 2015 NM4 Vultus using our 700's engine at $11k, I'm telling you now we aren't getting the 750. You'll be glad you didn't wait any longer.

Question about Valve Clearance and other Maintenance

I've done the valves on lots of different bikes over the years, and the NC has one of the easiest valve adjustment procedures I've seen. Shim and bucket are much harder and many bikes like my old Versys and the V-Strom take half a day to get to. Even the new 2013 CB500 series is a pain, and they...

    The NM4 Is Out And...

I bet the reason we are not getting the NC750X is the same reason this model is not being released to us with the 750 engine for 2015. My money is on an emissions issue with the federal government which is getting harder all the time, or it's a pricing vantage. I highly doubt we are getting the...

Sargent Seat, Pre-Registering NC700X for Seat Development

It doesn't appear to be the second coming of Christ like some people were hoping. But it looks like the second best option next to the overpriced Russel Day Long. I'm one of the few who actually likes the stock seat, but I don't tour on the bike.

    Help With First Bike Decision

For commuting the NC700 with DCT is the best, obvious choice for all the reasons mentioned. I haven't owned a V-Strom, but I have owned a Versys which is very similar in characteristics. The more powerful engine is only apparent if you rev the engine high, in which case there goes your gas...

Windshield question: best looking on the NC700X?

I vote for the MRA Touring Screen or Vario in smoke. I have the touring screen without the vario part and it is fantastic in both function and aesthetics. Any of the huge sail type windscreens that resemble a transparent piece of plywood look horrible to me.
