I finally picked up a Tuono shock off EBay. I weigh about 145 without gear and I had read something about the Ohlins spring rate increments corresponding to approx 25lb in rider weight.
Based on this and the information in the thread I am thinking of ordering a 180mm x 105 spring (1095-36/105)...
Add me to the list of those who are happy with the Sena/earplug combo. For some reason vehicle sounds really resonate in my Arai Signet-Q helmet and I cannot ride without earplugs.
I send off my oil to Blackstone for analysis and get their newsletter. In one issue they asked their lead tester which oil he uses and he said "The cheapest one I can find at Wal-Mart". That is interesting insight from someone who has seen a lot of oil.
I personally base my change interval on...
The Skene P2 controller is for the additional LED brake lights you can see on either side of my license plate in the previous post. It was a previous farlking project that I forgot to take photos of.
Also, while I was in there I replaced the tail light bulb with a red LED from SuperBrightLEDs

Here are some pictures of how I did the wiring for the license plate...
I'd like to say thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. I was able to successfully replace my headlight with the Cycle Gear LED light without removing any bodywork. That retaining clip is definitely a pain...
I also tried out one of the SuperBrightLEDs license plate bolt lights. It...
Finally installed my Cycle Gear LED headlight. It's nice and bright though a pain to install without removing anything. Thanks to those members who pioneered the LED headlight before me.
Ordered a VStream 18.5" windscreen to help keep the wind off this winter. There is an ebay seller that has...
So jealous of your trip reports, I love that part of Colorado. Hopefully I can replicate them when we move to the Longmont/Loveland area after my wife retires from teaching in 2 years.
I have ebay levers from the2wheels and they are nice also. The tolerances are pretty loose though and the clutch lever pivot bolt wouldn't fit through the hole. They did send me a replacement part quickly and though it was a tight fit it works.
Mounted my Fenda Extenda. Thanks to those who recommended the 3M VHB double sided tape. That's some sticky stuff! We'll see how it holds up to my 100 degree commutes this summer.
I love the boxer engines and really want a 1200GS but it is so big and heavy, esp for my 140lb frame. The 800 was my second choice but like you I read about a lot of issues with them (even more than the usual BMW issues :)
I am very curious about the new Africa Twin revival...
Wanted a BMW GS but it was trumped by the NC's price and reliability. The low CG, frunk and MPG were big plusses for me also.
Also a huge factor was the great folks on this forum!
I'd be interested in an insulated version for grocery runs if it was reasonably priced. I'd assume the silver stuff would work best to both reflect the engine heat away and keep in the cold.
I purchased both but have only gotten around to installing the P3. The install was pretty straightforward, I ran the wire through gaps underneath the rear reflector and tapped into the existing wiring under the fender liner.
