On my NC so far I added 2" ROX risers and 2x30mm risers (I had to change clutch cable with a CTX one, lengthen brake line and move wires behind fork). This improved things but I still get right shoulder pain.
Here is a wild one ... I have a VT1100T for which I just ordered a set of buckhorn...
Thanks a lot everyone for the replies. I went for the ride in service and there is hope ;-)
The newly shaped seat is shaped more like a Russell seat. I asked them to make it wider and like a bucket seat. I asked them not to cover it yet so I can ride it like this for a while and see how it...
@bigmark: That's the next move if I cannot get the Corbin seat to work for me. I'm curious, did you get your refund within 30 days or within the 1 year warranty period ? I might need to do the same if it's an option.
@670cc: I believe the handlebars need some work too. I wanted to changed things...
I went to two ride-ins for a Corbin seat so far and the seat is still pretty painful after only 30 minutes of riding.
Seat from ride-in number one:
On this one the bucket was too low and was hurting my back.
Seat from ride-in number two:

This one is better in...
Interesting point. I guess this is in contrast to carburated bikes which I assume you can push start with a flat battery.
I did manage to push start it the second time when a few people helped push the bike.
I seem to be quite creative at dropping my bike. I dropped it 4 times now and each time in a different way ;-) ...
Drop #1: I was at a dirt riding clinic and we were doing the slow "race". Well, I guess I was racing too slow and I dropped it.
Drop #2: After a 2 day camping trip I was filling...
Thanks beemerphile for taking the time to explain this.
Also thanks everyone else for your replies.
The thing is that I walked into a motorcycle consignment place today and sat on a few bikes to figure out the ergonomics. The Honda ST1100 felt the most comfortable. They also had V-Strom 1000...
Hi beemerphile what bars are those on your NC ?
I experimented a bit more with the ergos on my NC and I see what you mean by ulnar deviation. It might be the reason why my shoulders hurt after a while.
The other question is can I just try to straighten the existing bars for less pullback or...
How wide is this screen ? I have the adventure one (22" tall) but I was already thinking that I need to make one that's wider for wind protection for the hands. I would probably want mine shorter too at about 21" or 20".
Pictures with the more comfortable upright body position
Note that in these pictures I do not fully reach the controls. This position feels comfortable and the arms are relaxed.
Corbin saddle
Just installed the past weekend. The bucket shape feels good. Still significant perineum pressure. Maybe because of the firmer foam (compared to the stock seat).
I think I drove the Corbin wizard nuts since any change that he made didn't seem to help.
OK, after a bit of more experimentation I am aware of two pain points:
1. Shoulder blades start to hurt after 30 minutes of riding. My guess is because the handlebars are too far out.
2. The seating position causes quite a bit of pressure on the perineum area. Moving my feet on the engine...
Then why does the Goldwing have a 0 degree lean ? Goldwings are known to be very comfortable.
Or is it that 0 degree works for some people and forward lean works for others ?
BTW, I recently had to pass on a good deal on a VFR 800 because the forward lean lead to quite a bit of neck strain in...
I am 6'0" with a 29" inseam.
I played a bit on cycle-ergo and without the 2" risers it says the forward lean is 7 degrees.
With the 2" risers (1.25" pullback and rise) the forward lean is about 2 degrees.
With the 3.5" risers (2.5" pullback and rise) the lean would be 0 degrees with some...
