The 2023 Suzuki Boulevard C50 Keeps the Cruiser Spirit Alive
Contents
Suzuki’s cruiser line may not be the most extensive in the market, especially compared to its Japanese competition, but the manufacturer’s two entries into the class – the M109R and the C50 are both excellent choices in their own regards. The tamer of the two bikes – the C50 is a pretty traditional cruiser by most standards, with a healthy dose of modern touches to keep it alive. The Boulevard C50 branding dates back to 2005, when Suzuki renamed its Volusia cruiser, and the C50 has remained a fan favorite ever since.
A unique name among the Suzuki line of motorcycles – the C50 ( and its M109R brother) measures its engine size in cubic inches like an American cruiser, rather than the standard cubic centimetres like the rest of Suzuki’s bikes – The 50ci ( actually 49.1ci) translates into 805cc. The “C” prefix in the C50 name simply stands for, you guessed it, Cruiser.
The bike’s liquid-cooled 805cc V-twin engine makes a very well-rounded 53hp and 52 lb-ft. Paired to that powerplant is a smooth five-speed transmission and a shaft drive sending power to the bike’s rear tire. Suzuki says the bike is set up for low-rpm torque to make riding in an urban environment more enjoyable.
When most bikers think of a Japanese motorcycle, they probably don’t jump right to a cruiser, but when looking at some of the competition, it’s needless to say that the 2023 Boulevard C50 is a great choice, with finishing touches like preload adjustable rear suspension, spoked chrome wheels, and a comfortable seat sitting at 27.6 inches high. The C50 is available in two packages – the standard cruiser C50 and the C50T, a touring-focused upgrade package which adds a tall windshield, leather saddlebags, and a more comfortable seat, as well as an exclusive paint option. The T package is an additional $1,450 USD/ $1,900 CAD
For 2023 the Suzuki Boulevard C50 can be purchased in either Solid Iron Gray or Candy Daring Red. The C50T package is only available in Pearl Brilliant White.
The 2023 Suzuki Boulevard C50 starts at $8,909 USD / $10,899 CAD.
