From her circa-1998 birth to the 25 years of evolution celebrated to the present day, Yamaha’s YZF-R1 continues to dominate the scene – and in honor of such a supersport legacy, Yamaha’s hosting an event exclusive to R1M owners.
According to Yamaha’s recent press release, the Yamaha Racing Experience will take place from July 21-22nd at Italy’s iconic Mugello Circuit. There, R1M owners will be able to rub shoulders with others of their ilk, all while taking advantage of some pretty neat perks.
If you’ve got an R1M, here’s what you’re getting:

If, however, you own an R1M before 2023 (or are its second owner), you are in for a slight upgrade (to be purchased, of course):

When first debuted, the R1 was known for her use of a vertically-stacked transmission; the whole unit was shorter, with mass concentrated further forward. Together with the shorter wheelbase and the uneven firing order of that wicked crossplane inline 4, the R1’s legacy was not only lauded, but assured.

“The Yamaha Racing Experience at Mugello will be something special this year, the perfect opportunity to salute such an iconic machine together with our customers and some of Yamaha’s biggest stars.”

With the timeline reading three years since this bike was overhauled (barring 2023’s track-only beastie and 2022’s GYTR/Pro variants), we look forward to seeing what Yamaha envisions for the future of their flagship supersport.

- Expert riding and set-up advice from professionals.
