Same situation over here with Road Racing. Someone gets killed almost every year on one or more of them. The same attitude prevails, as in the Riders know the risks they are taking. However in the end it is the insurance companies that might eventually put a stop to it here because their premiums increase annually, and in some cases the organising committees of the various races can't afford them.
