Indian Motorcycles is giving us yet another reason to break the piggy bank.

Today’s debuted duo offers the ultimate Indian Motorcycles luxury experience, with one machine new to the stage and one returning for yet another encore.

Meet Indian’s 2023 Pursuit Elite and Chieftain Elite.

“When we first introduced the 2018 Chieftain Elite, we wanted to create an offering that was not just limited in quantity, but exclusive in nature with custom details straight from the factory,” enthuses Indian’s Vice President, Aaron Jax.

“Today, with jewel-like finishes, our Elite line of baggers and touring models truly represent the best-of-the-best and deliver a statement like nothing else on the road.”

Let’s get a bit closer to see what’s been included in the pair of power-hungry packages, shall we?

The Chieftain’s infamous Thunderstroke 116 is as punchy as ever, making a quick meal of the miles with the standard 126ft-lbs of torque readily available when needed. Everything powers through three ride modes – Tour, Standard, and Sport – with rear cylinder deactivation an option at slower speeds.

This year’s Elite theme is “premium” (isn’t it always?), represented foremost by the componentry of the Chieftain Elite’s 175-strong fleet. Aggressive aesthetics merge with the catchy color scheme (Super Graphite Smoke) and Shadow Bronze chrome finishes, allowing the bike’s 10-spoke precision machined front wheel, Adaptive Pathfinder front LED moment (and LED rears), and adjustable tinted flare windshield (accessible by handlebar button) to shine through.

Of course, luxury is offered in the Chieftain Elite’s 7” TFT screen, complete with RIDE COMMAND (with Apple CarPlay®), GPS nav, and RIDE COMMAND+ – and that’s without mentioning the additional standard “backlit switch cubes, integrated PowerBand audio system… ABS, keyless ignition, tire pressure monitoring…[and] weatherproof and remote-locking saddlebags with more than 18 gallons of storage.”

Yum.

We saw this PowerPlus piece of pretty coming a mile off, and we’re sure happy she’s finally here.

Indian’s new Pursuit Elite fleet is 150 units strong, each marked with 22hp and 128 ft-lbs. of torque to complement the excellent livery choice (Super Graphite Metallic and Black Metallic paint) and neat Shadow Bronze Chrome (with color-matched Elite badging) moment.

The gander also reveals new floating duties in the form of Fox® electronically-adjustable rear suspension preload, accessible from the Pursuit’s swanky 7” TFT screen and the same infotainment system as the Chieftain Elite (RIDE COMMAND with Apple CarPlay®, turn-by-turn GPS nav, Bluetooth® connectivity, and one year of RIDE COMMAND+).

Acoustics are also next level here, with Powerband Audio carrying a stunning 16 speakers, a 9-band equalizer, and built-in amplifiers.

Other perks of the new Pursuit Elite include (but are never limited to):

  • Smart Lean Technology via Bosch® IMU
  • Backlit switch cubes
  • Pathfinder S X Adaptive LEDs
  • heated seat
  • remote-locking storage

“For riders looking to achieve further customization, a quick release low profile trunk is available as a color-matched accessory,” continues the press release.

Expect the Chieftain & Pursuit Elite to start at an MSRP of $39,999 USD and $35,499 USD, with the bikes rolling out to our good industry sometime later this spring.

“Riders can learn more at their local Indian Motorcycle dealership, by visiting www.IndianMotorcycle.com or by following along on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.”
