TN Thunder. My statement was that ethanol is not blended at refinery or shipped in pipeline and I stand by that. It may happen, but not yet in U.S. Only being tested in pipelines with logistics hurdles and technical concerns. Also refineries are not near corn fields.

They're only referring to shipping "pure" ethanol in the pipelines, I blended and shipped millions of barrels of gasoline first containing MTBE, then Ethanol when the switch was made. The volume of ethanol that would be shipped probably hasn't been feasible cost wise, along with the extra work associated with pigging both ends of the batches to stop contamination. I worked in blending and shipping for ~10 years. The oxygenates usually came in on tankers, I can't even remember any rail or truck deliveries. ( I am getting older though )
