I replaces a leaking fork seal, found a nick on the fork tube, I was able to smooth it out. Hopefully that is why it was leaking. I also swapped out the front tire, it still had some miles left, but since I had the wheel off for the seals, I went ahead and changed it.

Day 172 of riding a 62 miler and another milestone on the NC, which also takes me over 10K miles for the year. 79 degrees and cloudy

Just got a new SENA helmet , so took it to Cycle Gear in Rancho yesterday to have it synced to my cell, and when I got home my sprockets had arrived, but had to go to the Benefit Spaghetti Feed & Raffle etc for the 5 kindergarden kid that were hit in the crosswalk in Pollock Pines about a month ago. It was great to see all the love and support for the kids. So today I took on the chain and both sprockets , and it was a PIA with only 1 hand and took what seemed forever, ( 4hrs ) but everything's been degreased , pressure washed , put back together and torqued , now have to go ride Ice House to see if that cleared up a lot or all of the noise I thought that was coming from the lower rt of my engine ( it was quieter after I'd lube the chain ) So KISS . start w chains and sprockets

So in my normal job I get paid to push a little icon around a computer screen and play math with physics. This summer I was offered a position of just playing with physics, mostly Archimedes principle and Bernoulli’s equations.
(5 points if that makes sense to you!)
Anyhoo, I had a client scheduled up at Flathead lake for 1:30-4:30 today, forecast temps in the mid 90’s, and I don’t typically like to ride in that kind of heat. So I left the house in the cage with the AC blowing. When I got down to the frontage road there was a steady line of motorcycles going by, and I just had to. So back to the house I went, packed my lunch in the top box, changed into my riding gear and back on the road I went. It’s about a 70 mile ride up there, and I stopped at a state park for my picnic lunch.

Then I finished the ride to the marina, and waited for my clients to show up. Today’s guests were a young family, he’s a former Navy F18 driver. Very lovely day on the water, the winds were perfect!

And they had to deal with this grizzled old USAF MSgt.

Anyway, it was a great day. The ride home was flipping hot, I briefly considered foregoing atgatt, but decided I still prefer my skin attached and my innards remaining so. I just made a few stops on the way home and took a few pics along the way.

Yep luckily it's only a 39 min ride to 8000' here in the Sierra's and if it's hot that where I ride to e my 4 piece flyrod

Changed the oil and oil & dct filters @ 31,041 miles. Blows my mind that it wont be due for oil again until close to 40k and filters at almost 50K lol. Then rode 47 miles @ 82 degrees and mostly sunny.

Btw after reading several threads about guys breaking the dct cover cap, I marked an up arrow on it on a piece of green painters tape, but on the 2021 I dont see how you could ever put it on upside down. Its shape is not symmetrical at all. It's obvious which way it goes.

It's pretty easy ,but luckily I noticed before i tightened it to much , but breaking them @ 9 ft/lbs , that's 1/4 ' drive held up by the socket and snugged, if you broke one you were tightening way beyond 9ft/lbs

Do you have a 21-23 model dct? The dct oil filter cover is very clearly much wider at the top, than at the bottom, and it matches the cut out in the belly pan only one way.

Yes I get it now. Archimedes and Bernoulli plus a helping of metacentric height to keep things upright and moving forward. From the turnbuckles and winch sizes perhaps 25-27' LOA?

I had 10 sailboats one at a time over 40 years then I bought a sport touring motorcycle. A year later all I had left of my sailing background was a stack of logbooks. My long time sailing buddies thought I had lost my mind.

Close, that particular vessel is 22' LOA (Capri 22). The sailing school owns two of them. My current boat is 23.5, I stepped down from a 26.5 last fall. And the 23.5 is for sale now, because I've only had her out one time so far this year and it looks like I won't have a chance again through the summer. Which means...maybe there's an S10 in my future...

No I have the 2015 NC 700XD , but the chin fairing has to be removed while doing the oil change and the upper half of the DCT filter cover is shaped very similar to the lower 1/2

Dave...First I've heard of you sailing. I used to sail also. Last sailing vessel I owned was a 1982 32' Pearson that I kept in Belmont Harbor in Chicago. Like the NC , it was an allrounder too (cruising racing)! I don't own a boat anymore as we have been in boat clubs for about the past 12 years. I am considering a Laser right now actually. They are just a ton of fun!

Mike, I raced Lasers in college. With my weight I wasn't very good at holding one down in a breeze but I learned a lot. Growing up in a beach town most of the boats in my resume are Hobie cats but when the kids started coming along I moved to cabin monohulls like the Irwin Mini Ton, Morgan 25 and Morgan 30 centerboarders. We owned the M30 Angel's Wing almost 10 years. I still did a lot of inshore round the bouys racing and especially liked distance offshore racing right up until motorcycles reentered my life at age 50.

5 points to me then

I felt the need to get some practice in doing urban riding. I spent the morning riding around Philadelphia. Roads varied from pot holed, to poorly patched, full cobblestones, and trolley tracks. Random auto parking and double parked trucks made it even more exciting. low speed defensive riding the whole time. The city felt 10 degrees warmer than home. I got home exhausted. 6 hours, 83 miles, and one double dip dish of black raspberry ice cream from a local dairy.
