Just hoping someone has some pictures of the top box on without the side boxes. I like the side boxes better, but it looks like the top box set up is half the cost. I just don't want the bike to look goofy!

I don't have the trunk, but I have photoshop. :)

I just cropped a trunk/rear seat on an unbagged bike. It's not perfect (rack rails are incomplete and the color is off a bit) but the angle and scale are really close:

Hopfully someone will be able to post the real thing.

Thanks for the pics guys. It definitely dosent look as awkward as I thought it would. Also, that is some great Photoshop work. I really need to spend some time learning that program!

Did someone say top box?

Oh...not like that? :p

Do you need to use the key each time to open the oem topbox or is it lock as needed? The hepco becker 55 litre junior box is lock if needed, they also have a fitted rack for the NCX and S. is about $150 less than the oem box and rack.

Thanks to all for posting the pictures. My top box is on backorder and without the side bags. To my eye it does look a little heavy/awkward with just the top box on. I decided in advance that it probably would look that way and I would accept it.

I decided on the top box for the following reasons:

a. My wife and daughters will feel far more comfortable with something behind them when I take them as passengers.
b. I think the big Honda top box will be more practical than side bags for the routine errands I do all the time in the city. The faux tank is awesome, but quite limited for my needs.
c. Cheaper than side bags, plus I'll maintain a sleeker profile for manouevering thru traffic and between obstacles in parking lots, etc.

Plus, the box is supposedly easy to dismount if I don't want it on all the time. Maybe one day I'll add the side bags too.

Today I went to pick up one item at the grocery store and couldn't stop loading up a loaf of bread, a jar of pickles, two steaks, 3 cans of sardines, a large bag of tortillas and two other small items. I wondered if I would be able to get it all in the faux tank, but it all fit easily. Totally awesome!

Here is my Hepco-Becker 55 litre top box from amotostuff.com was $440 free shipping with the top rack, they had 1 more rack last wed when I ordered mine, came in 2 days from Nevada. I have used Givi, Shad and Coocase, I liked them all but this one is the best and most secure mount out of all of them, the latch and locks are also top notch, it has a latch on both sides and they work flawlessly along with the latch on bottom to lock into the rack. It also comes with a mat for the floor, cross straps that hook in middle, no need to use a key to open, lock as needed, double wall construction. The windshield is Calsci tall and works well for me, I'm 6', 30" inseem, tall torso. I use a so callled smart phone for internet radio and GPS, dual 12v ports under dash. That is a nice rack. I liked it when I was debating which way to go. If I had not had a friend selling a Givi E460 top box cheap I might have gone Hepco.

What happens to the GPS when you lose cell signal?

The GPS in smartphones work off satellite same as any GPS. The radio apps work off G3 or 4 internet which has been working great lately. I used the radio and GPS in my f250 on a trip this summer from Az to NC on I40, the radio cut out some, mostly in OK, The voice command GPS worked flawlessly for food and hotels with directions through my bluetooth truck radio. The radio apps work well around my daily errands on the bike and on most major hyways in Az. I have to use etymotic earbuds with the boostaroo mini amp. I never leave home without it, been using this setup over a yr now on several differant bikes.

On Ebay you can search for "motorcycle trunk" and easily find a GIVI knock-off for under $100. Make sure to get something at least 22" wide. I've had a few of these on VStroms and Versys, and they work just fine for 35,000 miles+.

About 4 yrs ago I used on of those on a ZRX, hit a bump and the mount plate cracked and the box flew off under the car behind me. I bungeed the crap back on and emailed the seller from china, I was shocked to get a responce and a refund!

Anyway. you still need to spend at least $150 on a rack to mount it on. Since my experience I prefer to use a quality box, I don't know what I would have done if I had a 6pack in there when it busted, I could have been accused of alcohol abuse
with 6 cans of beer scattered all over the hyway!:)

Should the Top Box be "monokey" and open with the ignition key? I thought I read that to be the case. My dealer is telling me that only the side boxes will open with the ignition key and that the top box still needs its own key. Please confirm. Thanks.
