In regards to the damage, I believe the California DMV says if you "think it might" be 750 dollars in damages, then it has to be reported. It's actually very easy to fill out the form online and mail it in if you want. Typically an insurance company will file it on your behalf when you call...
Keep in mind that if an accident happens on a public road and more than $750 worth of damage it has to be reported to the DMV within 10 days, and depending on your agreement with the insurance company, you might have a legal obligation to tell them as well. That doesn't mean you will now have a...
From my experience, I take sometimes a full second to actually do the whole shifting process and the bike seems to like that, in comparison to treating it like a sports bike and doing it as quickly as possible.
I can duplicate the same condition. It can be caused by dropping the clutch quickly with no gas, and also letting it out too slowly that it stalls. :)
To be serious though, I don't think it has to do with performance of the bike. Just skill of using the clutch and throttle.

I have a question about this - what was your total weight including gear and accessories on the bike during this trip? I am wondering if 30 pounds, or maybe even 15 pounds makes a significant difference in terms of MPG for our bikes.
I am in California, so I have the sticker, but it's possible everyone else does since it gives the details about the valve clearances. It is located on the frame near the rear left side of the bike. If you are sitting on the bike, and reach your left hand down and slightly behind you, and can...
Hey guys, just did the first 8,000 mile service to the bike by myself. Was pretty nice, did the oil change first - never was able to do a full oil change before (had to use the screwdriver trick) but it seemed to go very well. I could not figure out how to ever use the strap wrenches, they...
Yup that sounds about right, I was driving in the direction of Clearwater. I'm surprised you can't lane-split in Florida though, especially with so many people that use scooters/motorcycles.
Just spotted my first one while riding here in the Los Angeles area; they were riding up Pennsylvania going North and I was on Foothill going West, not sure if the dude saw me though.
