recently purchased a 2013 NC700X and really like this bike. The problem I’m having is the rubber nuts the attach the windscreen to the mounting point are not holding. I replaced stock with a Givi. at low speeds it seems to hold fine however at highway speeds65+ the rubber well nuts pull out of the bottom mounting holes not sure if the windshield is just too high and catching too much wind or what. replaced rubber well nuts with new thinking that would work but still pulls out. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I hope that this is not stating the obvious and apologies in advance if so. I believe Givi has a mounting kit that is required to manage the increase in energy transferred from the larger (than stock) surface area to the stock mounting points. Did you notice if that is something that is required on the Givi screen and install it?

I have searched for a mounting kit for the Givi D1111ST windshield to a 2013 NC700X. Not having much luck

I have a '24 with the givi tall. My mounting hardware did the same thing....I replaced with a screw and nut with some rubber bushings. Hopefully, it'll work out ok. I am a little concerned about the 21-24 seeming to have weak welds per a few reports. I guess that I'll cross the bridge if I come to it.

As already suggested, the rubber wellnut mounting method is really only substantial enough for the small stock windscreen. Aftermarket larger windscreen makers who rely on the wellnuts are basically selling an incomplete or defective product. Madstad screens and Honda’s accessory touring screen come with metal nutplates that mount behind the windshield stay. It’s the same as installing washers and nuts back there, but much easier to manage with your fingers.

There was a person here on the forum that in the past sold nutplate sets for the NC, but he is not in the business anymore. I wish I could offer ideas on a current source. I attached a photo of random nutplates, to illustrate what I’m writing about.

I am surprised that GIVI doesn’t offer modified hardware with that screen. It’s pretty tall, and since Honda thinks it’s necessary for their screen, you’d think they’d follow suit. A rare lapse for a company that usually impresses me with their quality. However, I’m sure it’s worth putting in the effort to mount it securely.

Historically, CalSci was one of the worse offenders. In the early NC days, they offered a huge windscreen that was retained only with the rubber wellnuts. Dale sold a lot of his nutplates back then.

Actually, if you go to Hondas site and click on the large screen for the 24 750x, it uses the stock well nuts. I looked at the mounting directions and was a little surprised by that.

You are probably correct for the 2024 model. As the OP has a 2013, I mentioned how Honda had used nutplates to mount their optional tall screen that went on a 2013 model. You’ll see in the attached illustration, item 3 is a nutplate that replaces the original wellnuts.

Darn. I just took a look too and it is pretty clear that it uses stock hardware to mount. Sorry for the wild goose chase. Can you add one more screw by drilling through the Givi into the bracket and using another well nut to secure?

Yes he did. I have a set on my 2013. When I bought my Cee-baily screen, the wellnuts were fine for a few months, even at highway speeds for a butt burner ride, but they started to pull out. Got the plates and no issue since. I believe the OP can buy similar plates off of Amazon by doing a search for 2012/2013 Honda NC700.

Aren't the fasteners they use designed as a safety measure to break away in circumstances when the rider could hit the screen? Not being an engineer, would those plates reduce that likelihood of the screen breaking away? Both sincere questions...the first being something that I believed to be true.

I don’t have much to add other than the suggestion to reach out and talk to Givi directly on the phone. When I’ve had installation questions in the past, I’ve called technical support in NC or NV and they’ve actually been super patient and helpful. They stayed on the phone with me to help me troubleshoot and suggested solutions that I couldn’t find online or in their mounting instructions. 704-679-4123
