    Windshield and Levers

They are not split. I dropped the front forks and slid the gaiters over. Very simple to do. Took about an hour.

    Windshield and Levers

Thanks for the link. I was able to find a 14 model in my area that came with a black engine. Now if I could black out the rear sets. Thought about powder coat but not sure how it would hold up.

    Windshield and Levers

Dang good ideas! Since I've almost completely blacked out all the grey and silver on my red 14 NC, (painted plastic engine guard, black fork gaiters, black Madstad screen) I couldn't think of any other mods. So I'm on these! Do you have a link to the levers?

    Feeling Discouraged

Put it on Craigslist before going to a dealer. Someone will come along and buy it eventually.

    Group rides?

If you see a red NC skedaddling around the Parkway in western North Carolina it's probably me.

MadStad adjustable windshield system for the Honda NC700x

I confused your post with PortlandZinMan. Yeah the dark shield would not be suitable with 80% riding at night.

MadStad adjustable windshield system for the Honda NC700x

But the dark shield looks so nice on that red bike! I received my 20" this week. Fits me much better than the 18". A little surprising being that I'm only 5'6. Luckily I am able to see over the shield adjusted for highway speed so I will be keeping the dark tint.

MadStad adjustable windshield system for the Honda NC700x

Some pics of a second generation Madstad on a red bike. The shield is an 18" dark grey. It does provide exceptional wind protection, but I must have the shield in it's highest position to smooth out the buffeting. I will be sending it back for a 20".

Great looking set-up! Those will look awesome painted red. You got a heck of a deal on that top box. 300 bucks is cheap as I could find one.

    after market exhaust and tuning

I have a Yoshimura can. Mainly because I like the carbon fiber on the red bike. It added a deeper rumble, but no where near to loud. Noticed no change in performance or mpg.

I never have liked top boxes very much, but to satisfy my bad habit of packing to much camping gear I purchased a Givi V46. I think the Givi set up looks good and is top quality.

    My Embarrassing Drop

Don't feel bad. It happened to me just last week. In a crowded gravel parking lot. Going very slow looking for a place to park. Front tire slid out in some loose gravel. Next thing I know I'm down under the bike. Got out from under it. Pissed off I picked the bike up. Only damage was some minor...

    Zero Gravity Windscreen

No clearance issues at all with the Barkbuster handguards. Really like the ZG screen.

    Any motorcyclist's worst nightmare

Sorry...I just don't feel bad for these idiots that ride like their doing track days on public roads! I was nearly took out this past week by a R1 dragging a knee on my side of a 2 lane 45 mph road. Some people learn the hard way.

Is the NC700X a touring bike?

For me the stock doesn't hurt my little @ss to bad. A better screen is all I need to make the 700X a touring bike.

    anybody upgrading to CRF1000?

I would rather spend about 8.5k for this 500X. Would fit my 5'6" frame much better and all the power I need...
