Anybody else get a survey about the NC?

Survey We're on the same wavelength alright. I sent in my survey several weeks ago and just now saw this thread. My main complaint - you guessed it - the seat. I'll wait til spring to pursue a replacement seat, so I can start testing it when the bike comes out of winter storage. So far, I'm...

Honda Just announced their 2013 lineup

Ouch! That's even slower than the Mana. Of course that motorcycle is up almost 170cc and 30 hp over the NC. but with automatic trans only. Anybody know what the NC DCT does in a quarter mile?

Honda Just announced their 2013 lineup

Anemic is a relative term here, comparing it to other twin cylinders roughly in its class. BMW F650GS 800cc 71 hp. The BMW F800GS 800cc 85 hp. Kawasaki EN-6 650cc 72 hp (450 lbs wet). Kawasaki Versus 650cc 64 hp. Ducati Hypermotard 796 803cc 81 hp (368 lbs dry). Ducati Hyperstrada 821cc...

Honda Just announced their 2013 lineup

I dug up specs on the CB500X versus NC700X and learned the following. Both bikes are spec'd at 47 hp, 62 mpg and 41mm fork travel. The two major differences are 42 lbs less weight and 17 Nm less torque for the CB. Other than that, the CB has a more vertical engine with two intake monoblocs and...

Honda Just announced their 2013 lineup

Nobody mentioned the wheel colors available - Black. For some reason, manufacturers think everybody wants black wheels. Probably because for a short time it was "Trending" (God, I hate that word). My Tiger was black with silver wheels and the Street Triple R comes with gold wheels. I for one...

Anything you wish was different/better about your NC700?

My experience was a 60's model XLCH Sportster. I would hope they improved them a great deal, so I have no doubt as to what you describe. The Multistrada I drove was a 2007 kilo displacement model and it just didn't do it for me, as much as I wanted it to at the time.

Anything you wish was different/better about your NC700?

V configuration engines I've only ridden v-twins in Harleys and a Multistrada, so lack a lot of experience. However, the HD had terrible vibes and the Duc was somewhere in between the HD and the NCX. The Ducati engine was very unhappy under 3000 rpm and I felt a lot of vibration throughout the...

Anything you wish was different/better about your NC700?

I looked up the Mana also and was impressed until I finished reading about it. The price is definitely a killer. Not having a manual/clutch model choice doesn't work for me. With automatic transmission, the power advantage of 75 hp is gone. The specs on it show 13.6 seconds for 0-60 mph. Anyone...

    Winter Storage Time

Okay. Looks like a couple of questions to answer after my first storage post. First and foremost is the temperature. During winter months, our ground freezes and stays that way for the season. This can provide unlimited opportunities for unexpected patches of ice. Hitting one of those while...

How do you plan on increasing storage capacity?

    Winter Storage Time

Sad day. I put the NC into winter storage. Topping off the tank for the very first time came up with exactly 70 miles per gallon on the first 175 miles ridden. The only two issues I'll be investigating this winter are the seat and wind screen. Actual purchases, if made, will happen in the...

Anything you wish was different/better about your NC700?

I also vote for better seat. On crunching from first to second gear, I think it's the long travel through neutral. I noticed nobody complained about not getting it out of gear. Getting enough experience on that first up-shift, with respect to rpms, should make it much better to deal with. I...

    Accessory Outlet

This outlet location makes battery charges really quick and easy. I've had the Powerlets standard on previous bikes and used it many times for this.

    Horn upgrade

Horn Placement and parts Placing the relay is easy, since it's so small. The horn is the challenge. The obvious place is under the air intake cover, but I haven't been able to figure out how to remove the cover. Any help from you guys would be appreciated. The other bit of information is the...

    Horn upgrade

Got my Wolo air horn installed and wired up. Sounds great! I did exactly as the last post suggested by wiring the horn button to the relay coil controlling the normally open contact. The relay came with the horn. I then ran 12 volts from the plus contact on the battery through an inline 10A...

    Horn upgrade

Bought the Wolo and mounted it at a 45 degree angle in front of the radiator on top linked off the radiator mounting bolt. The angle provides clearance from the forks at full left to right motion and clears the fender at maximum shock compression. I'll be placing the relay where the OEM horn is...

    Where is your helmet?

I just joined, so this is a late reply. I also store my lid in the front storage, but you all should be aware that the tank access under the pillion has a bracket to hook your helmet D-ring and becomes secure when you latch the seat.

Yeah, and notice how all that riding improved my posture! I traded my Tiger for the NC at the local Honda dealer and just found out the guy that bought it from them added it to his present inventory of 13 other bikes. How can you ride more than one at a time????
