My daughter now has the NC700, and she is probably 5' 4". I used adjustable links to drop the rear, along with about a 1" fork drop. She still had to buy riding boots with 1" soles in order to be able to plant the balls of her feet and feel comfortable at a stop. We were discussing a custom...
I've stored my 2000 CBR600 in my garage for months at a time since I bought it new. Never used Stabil, or any other additive. The last few years I kept it on a battery tender so the battery would live. Never had a problem in the spring when I fired it up... until three years ago when the engine...
After driving a '70 Torino Cobra 429, '82 Mustang GT 5.0, and currently an '01 Isuzu VehiCROSS as daily drivers (averaging 10 to 18 mpg at BEST), I quit worrying about fuel mileage LONG ago. When you're in the 60 to 70 mpg range, 10 mpg isn't such a big deal. Enjoy the ride!!
I rode through some similar red clay/mud on my Yamaha DT250 when I was stationed in Guam back in the mid-70's. "Slicker than snot" - no kidding. We only had a small (6 foot) ridge to climb to get out of the jungle after a small rain storm, and none of us (a 125, my 250, and and RT360) could...
The NC700X has left the building!
My NC700X is now in a trailer headed to southern California. I hope my daughter will find the X more to her liking than I did. She primary plans to use it for commuting, so it is more suited to her lifestyle. I'm not sure if she will join this forum, but I will...
The handling of the NC is quite different from my CBR600F4. I noticed that the bike felt much more comfortable (to me) after I put the lowering links in, which decreased the fork angle slightly. But, it all depends on how you ride, and what you are comfortable with.
It always amazes me to watch the Moto-GP guys race around a wet track at speeds I would never approach in the dry. But, if anything goes wrong, it goes wrong fast!
I've ridden in the rain, and even once in the snow (when I was much younger), but these days I don't HAVE TO ride, so I leave the...
I dropped my bike!!
...about 2 1/2 inches. I have the Soupy's Performance lowering kit and adjustable side stand. I'm setting it up for my daughter, who is 5' 4", I think. She wanted a "cruiser" bike, so that's what I am giving her...kind of. I added about an inch to the length of the dog...
My mechanic rides an RC51 (RVT1000R/VTR1000), so I trust him enough with my NC700X or CBR600F4. Funny, he wouldn't loan me his RC51 while my CBR was in the shop...
I once swapped bikes with my ex-wife. She had a Goldwing, and I was on my CBR600F4. (That's really brave, huh?) Other than that, I have never been put into this position, although I can recall offering my CBR for ride to a coworker who later bought a CBR600RR. I'm trying to think back to all my...
In 1984 I used to commute on my KZ900, and on one occasion I saw a guy flick a lit cigarette out his car window. I rode up, picked up the butt, and placed it on top of his windshield wiper. As expected, he got irate and started chasing me. Unfortunately, I was in an unfamiliar business district...
I carry a bottle of Meguiars Clear Plastic Detailer in my bag, along with a soft microfiber towel, and clean my face shield frequently. I hate bugs. I did notice I had fewer bugs with the Puig 18" touring screen.
Oh, I still have the NC700X. It just isn't my PRIMARY ride anymore. As I have stated before, it is just not the bike for ME. It doesn't give me that thrill that my CBR600F4 does. I'm currently trying to talk my daughter into taking it, but she is only 5' tall, and would have problems with seat...
My previous (and current) ride was/is my 2000 CBR600F4. My plan was to sell the CBR and apply the sales $ to offset the NC purchase. After owning the NC for a few days, I cancelled the sale.
PROS of CBR600F4: Mo' power! Instant throttle response. Handles like a dream. Sounds fantastic.
CONS of...
