2014 Personal Maintenance History (So Far)

Hello all, Been wanting to post this since the bike turned 100K and finally got around to it. I'm not the most diligent mechanic but if anyone is interested what a normal dude has done to maintain a commuter bike using the most basic of tools and mechanical knowledge while on a budget, well...

Thank you. I'm going to use that bit of wisdom.

    Something Loose In Fork

Good to know. I saw a video where a gentlemen stuck a long tool to unbolt the bottom portion. I did notice the bottom bolt but figured I needed to unbolt both to disassemble. Good to know.

    Something Loose In Fork

Thanks. Might need to do a completed dissassemble next time. Just didn't have the appropriate tool to extract the inside.

    Something Loose In Fork

Today I was replacing the seal on the non-brake side of the fork and also the oil on both and when I went back to put everything together I shaked the fork and noticed a sound on one of the forks as if something loose in there. I only noticed it on one of them for I had already filled the other...

First impressions: new Madstad 20" windshield

After much experimentation I settled on an angle but I'm not completely convinced it's the absolute optimal. What is everyone's preferred angle? Also I've found that most of my buffeting came from the sides and under the the windshield. If I could do it over again I would order a wider and...

    Rev'it Tornado 2 motorcycle pants?

I have about 100,000 miles on the Tornado 1 pants and I like them very much. Good in all kinds of temperatures and weather conditions , I would highly recommend them. I bought a second pair when I wrecked my Street Triple and a barbed wired fence sawed most of my gear.

New member from San Jose, California

Welcome to the forum. I'm in Monterey county myself. Instead of having panniers I chose to ride with only a top box for relaxed filtering.

Honda bringing the NC750X to the USA.

And I will! But it will be the CB1000R+, the first bike I ever test rode after having a Rebel 250 for 6 months. It was exhilarating but the looks of the bike never could convince me...but now! That thing is calling me. So you guys say Honda monitors forums?...it would be nice if the NC had...

    coming up on 100K...

Wow I wish I could say the same thing about my Silverado. I had to replace the engine and major suspension parts at 100k. My '14 NC has 50k miles and I feel confident putting another 50k.

    LED Headlight coming soon, maybe..

Mine is a '14 fast approaching 50,000 miles near Monterey, CA. You're totally right about the color, the bulb doesn't seem to throw further but what I do see I see clearer.

    LED Headlight coming soon, maybe..

Thanks for the suggestion. I may be a special case, I work nights so do a lot of miles at night. I took the bulb out today and tried different things to no avail. I compared it with other bulbs and it seems installed correctly. I wasn't able to turn it 90 degrees just 180 and that made it much...

    LED Headlight coming soon, maybe..

My experience with the cyclops bulb hasn't been the most positive. I've had it for a year now and the cutoff is so bad and beam scattered that it is hard to adjust to a good angle without being flashed. I get flashed almost nightly and the beam is aimed even lower than normal. I'm not loving it...

    Uprated Headlight

The cyclops bulb made a bigger difference than the disappointing Denali D2 auxiliary lights. For those that installed the Cyclops bulb, did you use the washer that came in the box?
