A few people have been scammed on the site, Only use paypal to pay for items for sale by other members. If they will not use paypal, its likely a scam NEVER SEND E-TRANSFERS OF ANY KIND.
No issues with mine - other than stripping a bolt while initially installing it (my fault, old screwdriver).
Keeps sidebags and under the seat a bit tidier
If you install the honda subharness and relay it'll give you switched 4 slots to power accessories from the bike battery. If all you have is your GPS and you have a simpler solution through a battery in the frunk, it may not be worth the cost though.
installed Denali D2 lights, tomtom rider 400 GPS, 12v accessory socket.
Received replacement side bag, took off all mounting form old and transferred to new. Installed new side bags and put them back on the bike.
Took me probably 8 hours to do everything. Had to take off tupperware on both...
I also considered Motoport mesh kevlar gear, which seemed to offer equal or better abrasion protection - but I wanted 1 set of equipment that was pretty much everything I needed year round (except layers underneath). Caught in the rain? Doesn't matter you're already water proof with the 'stitch...
I wear a 1 piece Aerostitch riding suit, then gloves, riding boots, and helmet.
This all goes on over my regular/work clothes. The suit can fit in one side bag (Pelican 1550 case), and boots/gloves/change of shoes or clothes etc. can fit in the other side case. All I do is change my shoes when...
I am planning to install the Honda sub harness and relay kit, in addition to the Denali D2 lights (and a GPS but that doesn't apply here).
In the sub harness, I believe when looking at the 4 pin connector you see 3 wires. The blue wire is the hi/low, green is the ground, and brown is 12v...
I can say that my phone fell out of a RAM X-Mount while riding a 250 cc scooter ~40 mph on a bumpy downtown road. I don't use that type of mount anymore, and it's part of the reason I opted for a dedicated moto-GPS so I would have something built for it. (also so i could have it in any weather...
I was surprised how much I noticed having the rear panniers off. They are way too useful not to have on for me, though, but if I were only going for a ride for fun around town I think I'll take them off in the future. I haven't tried taking off my touring V-Stream yet though
I'll be getting some Loctite (Loctite Threadlocker Red 271 from Loctite Adhesives) to prevent this in the future.
Those washers are a good idea though.
I have rain covers that go over my gloves. They have a ridge of rubber on them like a wiper that you can use to wipe away water, good enough for me I think.
Luckily it was a weekend morning, and I was running across the HOV/pay to enter lane so traffic was very light.
Everything about it was pretty lucky, except that it happened!
Hey,
One of my caribou cases came off on the highway! I think the nuts and locking mechanism vibrated loose. I'll have to get a replacement bag if Pelican will OK the replacement, and then put lock-tight on the new ones to prevent this happening in the future...
I would definitely consider buying the second generation of something like this, when they fix all the little problems bound to come up the first time around.
Hopefully someone eventually comes up with something that isn't just Motorrad integrated
My dad gave me a Cardo G9x, he had bought 2 of them on eBay for a good deal.
I use this in my Shoei RF-1000 (craigslist for 150, was new in box essentially). The Shoei has spots in it that the speakers from the cardo fit right in.
When wearing earplugs I can still hear directions and/or music...
Thankful you walked away from this.
Thanks for sharing this story, encourages me to continue ATGATT because you can't control other's mistakes
Africa would be amazing to have if I had the money I would go for it
