Alt Rider skid plate + Crash bars

I have the Altrider skidplate and Givi crash bars, no problems at all. The skidplate plate install was a bit tricky in that I had to use my factory bolts on bottom to frame brakets so I could tighten with a wrench. If I used the Allen bolts that came with it, I would have to drill holes in the...

Why I no longer want offroad tires for my NC

Rokon - I want one! But the same price as my NC700X? Have to settle for a 125 to 250 cc dual sport. Probably produce a lot more than 7 HP and 10 ftpd torque too. The right tool for the job.... The more I try to ride the nasty dirt on my bike the more I have to ask myself why?....other than...

    Lowering question

I lowered mine approx. 30mm with Soupy link and the side stand works OK but you will have to be a little more careful where you stand it because it is more upright. Definitely noticed that you need to stomp the center stand correctly or use a board under the rear tire to raise it but no big...

    Bike 'attitude' and seat comfort.

I am a tinkerer....that's out of the way. I have tried several things to get my feet on the ground with my NC700X. First took all the rubber bumpers off my seat pan and gained more than 1/2 inch and leveled the seat. Then for some extra high soled boots, got close to 1.5 inches so put the...

    Sit&Fly / Sit & Fly Seat Cover

That looks really COOL, in every sense of the word. If you ever take the seat off, I would love to see some pictures of how you attached it. Can't quite visualize how you did the zip tie wraps. I like the factory seat a lot but with my Tourmaster mesh pants I definitely get jungle butt after...

Strap on panniers - a cheap alternative or a pain?

Yes, I built those and they work great and stood up to a 15 mph high side on gravel. I used self tapping screws on mine, no glue. If I were to to it again there is a simpler design that I would use that incorporates 45 degree angles under the fender and a lot less tubing (search on "racks"...

    Buying tips?

I bought a brand new 2014 this spring for 6K with tax, title, and prep. It had factory Touring screen and luggage rack included. Make sure they did the instrument upgrade on yours. Mine had it and the new one was defective and replaced again at 600 miles. Everything has been perfect now for...

    Gas Mileage

That's really cool, nice route and super milage. I was starting to think I was doing something wrong because I break 80 mpg very often and low milage is bottom 70's for me when I ride hot in 3rd and 4th a lot. I do mostly Vermont back roads and gravel so my bike doesn't ever see 6th gear or...

    Frunk Survey

I have the key mod and always leave it in with the frunk latched, it looks like switch and not many people know about the frunk storage. I taped a spare key under the cowling out of sight in case I lose mine on the road. I keep all my really expensive important stuff in my soft saddlebags on...

Strap on panniers - a cheap alternative or a pain?

Soft bags on mine (Cortech) with my own PVC racks. Got the bags at a garage sale for $30 and the rack cost about $20 and a couple hours fab time. I can gas up without unstrapping anything. Maybe someday if I win the lottery I will drop a grand on hard cases but these work just fine and look good.

    Seat Height Adjustment

I had all of the rubber bumpers out for a month, didn't notice any comfort difference except for the seat being more level and an inch or more lower. Didn't like the seat covering rubbing directly on my frunk so reinstalled the front 2 bumpers. Now that I lowered the rear end with links the...

My NC like Playing in Water

Very cool riding! Love to see some pictures of your skidplate someday  . What tires are you running these days?

2016: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

Finished my 'farkling' on the NC700X for a while...So now she has Soupy links, Tusk handguards, Fenda Extenda, Altrider skidplate, Givi crashbars. Also adjusted factory touring screen with longer bolts and 3/4" spacers and leveled my seat by removing rear rubber pads. Only things left are...

    seat options

I have no issues with the stock seat, it got more comfortable with the miles and especially after lowering the rear end about an inch. Not even suggesting that an expensive aftermarket seat wouldn't feel better but you may be surprised. ...Now if you plan to do 10 hours for your break in ride...

    Longer kickstand

I recently installed the adjustable Soupy link and it seems fine, well made and came in precisely adjusted. I didn't mess with it at all, looked like about .5 inch longer than stock although I never measured it, and that lowered my bike a little over an inch. Doesn't take much to change the...

    Darn gravel

Sorry for your bad luck. More consolation. ..I high sided mine 2 weeks ago turning onto a gravel road similarly. Had all my gear on so just sore 60 YO bones and muscles. I broke off my front brake lever leaving 2 inches usable for the ride home. Now I have good handguards and a skidplate...

What would be a nice pet name for our NCX700?

Named mine "Firefly" because she looks like the space transport from the series with the same name. Almost went with Serenity, which was the ship's name but after a few butt puckering off road rides it didn't seem to fit...

How the NC stacks up against the Africa twin.

Love the bike a lot but when I climbed up on it I was scared. Another 5'8" 28" inseam guy and at full height it was hard to balance for me and I could envision lots of drops when I hard stopped the beast, compressed the front end, and it bounced back up. Interested to see that another 'perfect...

2016: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

Side stand is a bit high but wind isn't going to blow it over. Center stand is fine, just need to stomp it and use good technique...

2016: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

I put on my Lowering link which dropped it down about an inch, installed my $50 Tusk Dflex hand guards and went for a 90 mile test ride. I'm pretty happy with the handguards, the instructions said to put them 10 degrees lower than level which is interesting. Most guards that I've seen look...
