Apologies if this is a repeat, but searches in the forums revealed nothing. I have been unable to find illustrated instructions in the forums, and the shop manual I ordered has not arrived.

Sometimes it's the simple stuff that blocks progress. What is the trick for removing the front caliper? It must be simple, even the owner's manual dismisses the operation with a few words.

No matter what I have tried, the caliper is blocked by the wheel. Does one need to remove the rotor?

All my previous experience has been with cars or pickups.

Thanks in advance.

It will help if you push the caliper towards the disk before you start. This pushes the caliper pistons back into the housing and gives you more room to remove it from the bike.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Compressing the pistons and more vigorous wiggle did the trick.
