I’ve been looking at getting soft panier bags for a while and have been waiting for GIVI 405's to appear locally as they are cheap like me.

I looked at the thread on the PVC standoffs and admired the concept but wanted something even simpler and particularly more discreet as I figured even on trips I would have the bags off and on and anything that draws attention to my bike is unwelcome (living in NZ a country that’s rapidly sliding towards a twisted politically correct, socialist, victim blaming, entitlement culture, the odds are any scumbag who gets attracted too and subsequently chooses to tamper , vandalize , or steal my motorcycle will be treated harshly by the judiciary with a hug, a cookie and a certificate confirming they were in fact the genuine unwitting victim in the whole sordid affair....but that’s another thread :) Point is its better to er on the side of discretion)

So I'd been looking around at things that I could re-purpose..As I’m about to be a father for the first time (my girlfriend is having contractions as I type..that’s not a joke, anywhere from now till next couple of days according to the midwife) I've been dragged around baby shops the last few months. My partner has been impressed with the patience and time I’ve spent with her looking at baby related things. She's been particularity impressed with the concentration I’ve applied when looking at all the prams and strollers. All those pre-bent bars, joints and well crafted angles on them...

So a quick trip to the dump where they are sadly thrown out by the truck load it seems once they they pass their usable life..ie a little wear on the tires or dirt on the seats ..anything that wont look fashionable whilst having the Cappu/Frappuccino with the other housewives it seems?.. (infuriating wastage being another thread too though). And I have..

So Ive been on numerous loaded trips now and Im stoked..and when bags are off it looks like it belongs.

Technicals..Originally the upper seatpost clamp connection went on the passenger grab bars and the lower connection was simply on the heel brace thingy?, it was simple and worked great. I recently however had a birthday and in a vodka induced "throw the cat another goldfish" moment I ordered a sw-motech rear rack (such a well made piece of kit incidentally) despite the maddening shipping fees. So Ive had to change the system and attach to that rear rack bar as you can see. That meant attaching the lower attachment to my cunningly installed Lust racing lowering links I had removed earlier..looks sooooo factory now (with its zinc carpentry bolts) :)

Anyhow not being computer err savvy/regular? I don't feel I contribute anywhere near what I have gained from people on this and other forums so hopefully if this gives anyone an idea or inspiration I will feel I've at least given a little back.

Great innovative work. Also congrats on the impending (or perhaps now new) arrival.
