I'm enjoying the lively discussion on this thread. Just four quick points:
1) My original, provocatively-titled video post was intended to be slyly humorous. An NC will never "smoke" a DL1000. Those of you who've owned as many bikes as I have over the years likely grinned when you first saw this post's title.
2) My friend Steve riding the V-Strom did in fact mis-shift, explaining his sudden deceleration.
3) I was in fact at full, wide-open-throttle until Steve passed me and slowed down.
4) If an NC has "S3" mode programmed with Honda's optional "Power Pattern Omega" it will definitely stomp a BMW S1000RR in a quarter mile.
(Kidding on one of the above.)
