There’s nothing that speaks better to the liberated rider than a motorcycle lift in the garage; unfortunately, lifts are just as subject to quality recalls as bikes – and one brand, in particular, has had to deal with a doozy of a quality issue.

A High Position Motorcycle Lift from Harbour Freight has been called in due to two potential issues (via RideApart):

  1. Welds that may be susceptible to fatigue cracking.
  2. Tubing quality that may be “insufficient to repeatedly lift the loads for which this lift is rated.”

The affected units were produced between October sixth of 2008, and February 23rd, 2023, with the original recall pleading in all-caps to “IMMEDIATELY STOP USING THE HIGH POSITION MOTORCYCLE LIFT. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE PRODUCT.”

A quick look on Harbour Freight’s website and we see the High Position Motorcycle Lift is no longer available directly from the website; still, with 41,715 motorcycle lifts affected, better safe than sorry.

If you’ve got a Harbour Freight Lift in your garage, a heads up that the affected item number is #99887, and the code will be present on the lift herself.

“Owners of the affected lifts will receive a Harbor Freight gift card as a refund for the faulty motorcycle lift, once they’ve removed the Hydraulic Ram and returned it to the store,” states the report.

“Notification letters will be sent from Harbor Freight to customers on or about April 28, 2023 regarding this recall.”
