Fire the guy the designed the seat!

I find this thread interesting. Saddles are always a unique and personal taste for sure.
I'm one that did buy and install a Corbin. For me, it wasn't because of the discomfort of the original saddle. In fact, I found it quite comfortable and the slight forward rake that put me into the frunk helped me to ensure good posture and relaxed arms.

The Corbin, for me, was all about the heated option. Granted, it too is very comfortable, but I find myself lurching more forward in it to ensure I get relaxed arms. I tend to push the bike into corners and the relaxed arm, forward posture is the only way for me. The stock seat makes that very easy.

I suppose, if I were doing 100 mile highway commutes on it, I might think differently. I did do 100 miles round trip with a healthy break in the middle on the freeway and found that I'd every once in a while scoot back in the seat just to find myself eventually back on the frunk again. It was a minor annoyance at worst.

Just some thoughts.

Sat on the new 500 at the London motorcycle show today and found it far more comfortable than the NC 700 so Honda can do a good seat. the other annoying thing is that Honda do hand guards for the 500 so why not the 700

Was the seat slippery as on the 700? Did the 500 feel smaller etc. Very interested on your thoughts.

I also went with the heated Corbin option. That seat is bad ass (pun intended)-it is wider and more firm than the stock seat. It also doesn't push you into the frunk. I only wish they had added a controller to adjust the seat temp. That thing gets HOT (and it's right on top of the gas tank

The seat on the CB500X is not covered with the same material as the NC700X, and is not slippery. The 500 seat is long and extends up onto the tank more than the NC. For the five minutes I sat on it, I liked it. All day comfort would remain to be seen. I'd rate the 500 seat better than the 700. Honda's infamous forward seat slope seems somewhat evident from the photo, however.

The 500x is a very nice bike, IMO, except that I could never buy it in the matte black "color" it comes in. I would have to paint it right away. No magazine full performance tests are out yet, though, so how it works remains to be seen.

I kinda agree to a point. Since I purchased the NCX, I have had two days to ride it. With it still being winter here in St Louis, when the temps get close to 40 they don't stay there long. The best I have done is about 100 miles and the seat, although sliding forward was annoying, it was tolerable for the limited ride.

Every riding season I tend to take at least two long trips; one trip to the Smoky Mountains and another out to Colorado (Avon area). The Colorado trip is always about 3500-4000 miles during the 7-8 days we are gone. There is absolutely no way I could spend that time in the saddle moving back and forth because of the slope. The bottom line, it is my opinion that if you purchase this bike for local moderate riding, it will be an absolute dream bone stock! If you intend on taking trips, you will need something to bring the seating on par with the rest of the bike.

Again - I know all too well that the stock seats on most all motorcycles will be enough for a typical rider. Look at how many motorcycles you can pick up that are 5 years old and barely have 5000 miles on them! People buy motorcycles and just bounce around town on them. You take someone that will travel on one and experience how amazing that is and you will likely find they have an aftermarket seat.

i am the guy who goes to mongolia and india with this machine.I given name to this seat,ı call my seat Peter north the legendry porn star.Cause after 100 kms raiding your ass is hurting like hell.Seat design is very poor.

i will change the slope if i get the time.By the way imagine me riding the stock seat 900 kms a day and imagine the pain i suffer.Thats why my seat is peter north :)

That is a really great picture of your bike! Thanks for posting it. There is nothing more satisfying (in the cycle world) than seeing pictures of motorcycles enjoying a long trip!

Due to many reasons, I am thinking of buying some padded cyclists pants for those longer rides.....
I am still one of the few here who are "ok" with the seat?
:p

My latest trick is to slide back over the hump and stretch to the bars, fully extending my arms. It's probably imaginary, but i think I am more aerodynamic, perched farther back from the stock flyscreen. My butt seems to like the change in scenery and bike shorts probably would help, especially bib knickers with a chamois under my jeans instead of boxer briefs. The new profile would probably scare the cagers just enough for them to give me a wider berth.......

hey brother i even sit on my girlfriends legs :) whoever design this seat i really like to meat with him or maybe she :) who knows but for certien i am gonna kick his ass
