I would NOT want that feature. I would rather see how much distance I have left before I'm out of fuel. And that I can do with an average trip meter. That fact that it can't be overridden is the bad thing.

Wow, I hadn't thought of it like that, yes you probably know how many miles it is to get to where you want to go rather than seeing it count up 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7 game over

it should be an additional trip meter that starts from 0.

On the flip side, if you know your average fuel consumption, and this tells you how much fuel you have left, then you know that when you see a signboard with next gas station 30 miles, you had better get ready to walk.

If Honda insists on displaying fuel left to empty rather than miles left, wouldn't it make more sense to count down to zero, instead of up to 0.87?

I don't know, each to their own I guess. Now that I have figured it out, it works for me.
