Today after work I am riding my friend's place in the Narrow Hills from La Ronge. It's raining and the cut across is washed out after the Wapaweka turn.
Long story short: I have 175km of potentially sloppy soft gravel between where I am and where I am going. There is no cell coverage and since I will be on the bike I won't have a radio. There is little traffic on these roads. You could spend all night without a vehicle going by.
Should I be worried about fuel? I know the bike is capable of nearly double that distance taking it easy on good roads in good conditions. Has anyone gone far enough in wet soft conditions to comment on how it affected fuel efficiency? Is it silly to worry about it when going such a short distance?
This is just one of the reasons I don't like not having a 500+ km range...
