This year has certainly been the year for world records.

From Acerbis’ “Greatest Distance Driven on a Single Tank of Fuel by a Motorcycle (Prototype),” to Peter Hickman’s unforgettable Isle of Man TT lap and Ivan Cervantes’ stunning efforts winning the world’s “Greatest Distance on a Motorcycle in 24 Hours” (on a Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer, no less), our industry is pumping out record-breakers like ice cream on a long weekend.

Among the list of adrenaline junkies is Velocifero, who has put together a special machine to challenge “its first world speed record attempt on a prototype electric scooter at the world-famous Monza circuit in Italy.”

The exact title of the world record to be broken is still up in the air; until the actual deed is done in four days (June 30), we’re told by coverage from MSN that the timekeepers will be measuring everything from top speed, to top speed per kilometer, to acceleration from zero to 100 kilometers per hour… the list goes on.

“Just as his father [Leopoldo Tartarini] tried to break the speed records at Monza with his three-wheeled prototype 54 years ago, Alexander will do the same with his Velocifero electric scooter prototype,” contributes the coverage from MSN.

“In addition, since it is 2023 and not 1969, Velocifero will live stream this world record attempt from Monza on its website.”
