I've had my bike about a week and have modded the seat by raising the front up using the ideas on this forum[my jewels thank you] now on to the windscreen . I need to either shorten the aftermarket that came with it, or get a taller one. my question is where do you measure from to get the height? I've searched but didn't find it. thanks in advance. Finally got my tag yesterday so I'm ready for some longer rides. the screen that came with it looks good but isn't working for me.

Which aftermarket screen do you have now?

The height is measured down the vertical center line of the screen.

Below is an image of stock vs Honda touring. In my opinion the Honda touring screen moves the wind blast from your chest to your face, and is not a good solution.

There are tons of posts here about windscreens. Google "NC700-forum.com windscreens" or something like that, and read all day.

I'll save you some time. The consensus is that the Madstad Windshield is the best. Its not pretty nor is it cheap but it offers "the best" protection against wind blast. This is coming from a guy that does not own one and has never used one. So many people have rotated through several screens only to end up with the Madstad. If you really want to tackle this issue the first time and you don't mind spending the money, buy the Madstad. Otherwise, read the material provided by those above and make your own decision but you'll probably end up with something that doesn't give you "exactly" what your looking for. I have the Puig and it is better than the OEM touring but it is not perfect.

thanks for the replies. my confusion comes from where you take the measurement from, I get the top of the screen, but the bottom is not necessarily the same from screen to screen [or are they?]and has a fluid relationship the the actual screen height. so 2 screens may measure 15 inches from top to bottom, but one may actually be higher . does this make any sense.?

what is the madstad screen made of? hardcoated polycarbonate?

Q: Why does MADSTAD use Cast Acrylic instead of Polycarbonate plastic?

Cast acrylic is more rigid, more optically clear, has better scratch resistance, better chemical resistance for cleaning, easier to mold, less costly, and does not cloud or become hazy over time like polycarbonate can. We use a minimum 3/16" (4.5 mm) thick cast acrylic to make all of our windshields so they are nice and rigid, super-clear and easy to maintain.
FYI, the canopy of the F/A-18 Hornet supersonic combat jet is made of cast acrylic. If acrylic is good enough for a military fighter jet it should be good enough for your motorcycle!

Above copied from the Madstad website. FAQ

The downside is it can crack under impact.
