I shift through turns nearly all the time unless I am in a gear that will go through the turn on a green light. I have two bikes and each has its own range in rpm. I always watch the road surface to make sure no loose grit or sand is there for if you accelerate in the turn or shift you can get a little slip on the rear wheel. Haven't had any problems so far. As one said above, down shifting should be done before entering the curve or intersection. You can get slight rear wheel lock-up if down shifting with speed.
