Back in May of last year, Yamaha filed for trademark rights to an “XSR-GP;” today, we know this machine to be the new MY2024 XSR900 GP, a recently-revealed beaut slotted for UK markets at an estimated MSRP of £11,500 in the color schemes “Power Grey” and “Legend Red.”
Coverage from Yamaha EU’s recent press release shows this 1980’s-inspired retro racer to take aesthetic inspiration from the brand’s compact, wildly successful GP Deltabox debutantes, the first of which was revealed in 1985 as the “TZR250.” This particular Deltabox chassis has apparently been tuned in the name of better front-end feedback – a handy thing indeed.

Expect a frame-mounted fairing and pillion cover for the saddle, as well as clip-on handlebars, knuckle guards and suspension in the form of adjustable KYB USD forks and a link-type rear unit.
Radial stoppage and red ‘spin-forged’ alloy rollers now join the XSR’s stock tank, 117hp/890cc triple heart and Yamaha’s third-gen quick-shifter while a 5” TFT dash handles the electronic particulars (including Yammie’s MyRide app and Emergency Stop Signal system that flashes lights when the bike endures hard braking).

We’re told the ergonomic switchgear comes from this year’s updated Tracer 9 GT+ and Yamaha Niken, so we’re looking forward to seeing how the whole caboodle aligns for the approaching roll-out to markets.
