1400 miles in on these tires and I'm worried there not going to make it even 3,500 miles. Time will only tell but the wear markers seem very close already.

Were these the TR-91 trail max? Those are soft tires. Sticky.. but soft. Seem to have gotten a bad rap around here because they don't last long. Probably a poor choice for a bike targeted at economy and efficiency vs performance. But for hooligans who want a little dirt action too, it's a good tire.

My 2014 NC came with Pirelli Scorpions, much better life expectancy. I also like the Bridgestone Battlewings for a 90/10 tire.

For pure street, the Michelin PR3 or PR4 are pretty great, but have gotten expensive. Trail version has softer compound rubber, GT version has stiffer sidewalls. Don't think the GT is available in the 160 size for the NC.

I think it says D609 on the rear but they look like the TR91 a bit. I agree, I'd expect more from a commuter bike. Oh well, it is what it is. :) Just would like to make it to 3,500 at least.

Hmmm, from what I can find, it seems the D609 was made by Dunlop at the request of Honda for the NC. I'd sure like to understand how someone thought there wasn't already a good choice of tire out there for a bike like this. Especially since it seems everyone on an NC complains about this tire.

The good news is that it seems the D609 is hard to find for sale anywhere... so people won't likely be buying more of them lol.

Mine were wasted by 3k, got em changed at 3.5k at a massive discount by the dealer I bought the NCX from.

I've heard that others have had the Cheesemaxs replaced for free!

Call your dealer and complain, you never know, you may get a free pair of tyres, or at least reduced in price.

I found an old thread on this top. Crazy. It would make more sense if I was out drifting and riding like a total HOOLIGAN!!!

Changed mine out at 3600, threads weren't showing but the loss of rubber was way too fast from 3000 to 3500.

I've got just over 2000 miles on mine NCX, and I'm seriously doubting the rear tire will make it to 3000. I have found them to be a bit slippery in fast or highly leaned cornering, and I'll cop to being a bit of a hooligan on the standard roads, (dirt/lime rock), where I live...but to wear this fast? OI!

Yeah, I worked for Honda for 8+ years at a bike shop. Never seen a tire warranty but due to what people are saying I'm going to give it a shot. I'm close with my local dealer and going to ask them to fight for me.

Point out to them it is treated as Warranty in Europe, so why not here. The tires are definitely wrong for this bike.

Same for me with the Trailmax....TrailMIN. Replaced the back tire at 5.000 km. Official complaint to Honda Benelux and the dealer. Got 75 euro compensated. Now driving the BT 23. Like I did with my Pan for 5 years wich lasted 12 to 15.000 km on the very heavy Pan.

"The Wife" has been pestering me about doing something about the back tire. I don't want to purchase 2 new tires for a matching set, but 'buying' another rear of the same Dunlop doesn't seem a viable option either. One of the biggest issues I have is where I bought the Bike, Ride-Now Ocala. They now have a monopoly on Honda and, well, every brand within about 90 miles except Victory, Harley, Ducati, and Yamaha. The last time I called for service on the NCX, the guy on the phone thought it was an ATV! Maybe I'll try and call Honda direct and ask about tire, as well as some place to get service done. Alternately, I may just have to buy 2 tires and GET-ER-DUN!

Flaferalcat-There is a Honda dealer over on US19 north of Crystal River-I know a couple of guys who have used them and like them (Honda of Crystal River)-1917 U.S. 19, Crystal River, 352) 795-4832. I know they were still open during Thanksgiving week.
There is also Streit's Motorsports in Gainesville (or was a couple of years ago, I haven't been there in 2 years) which did deal in Suzuki, Honda, and Yamaha.

Ride-Now bought out Streits last Summer. I went to the Crystal River shop last June and they only had about 11 'new' bikes in the place, of which 2 or 3 were 2014's and all were the 250 0r 300cc- cbr's?. Ride-now GAINESVILLE was then bragging about buying out their whole shop, but given they talk like a lot...that means nothing I guess.
Anyway... THANKS! Sorry I missed ya over the holidays since you were here. :(

yea, I was in the Jeep, had no cell phone or Internet coverage while I was in.

Honda will only replace tyres, not tires.

Wen you lurn to spel proper likes us den you can have new tyres.

;)

LMAO. Nice!

I still don't for the life of me understand why they switched from the BT-023. It's perfectly matched to the philosophy (for lack of a better word) of the NC700 and they get great reviews for both their handling and long life span. Cost is the only thing I can think of.

There are lots of different suppliers and models of tires OEM mounted to bikes, depending on market country, available supply from a manufacturer, fluctuating costs, etc., etc.

Some NC's got Pirellis, others Metzelers some Dunlops, some Bridgestones, and so on, even in the same country.

Similar to the final drive chains, some got RK others got the DID.

Matching tire brands/models isn't required. Especially if you're going to stick with the same type of tire. i.e. - not switching to knobbies. But even that, some people will intentionally run different tires to get specific handling characteristics. I like Michelin Pilot Roads, but the PR front tire TOTALLY SUCKS on dirt. So I'll run a Battlewing or Tourance in front and PR in the rear. Makes for a great combination for the riding I do... 95% paved with some mellow dirt here or there.

Tires are consumables, some last longer than others... the Dunlop TM's seem to be a bad choice for this bike, pick something else and move on.
