Adjusting chain tension with side stand vs. center stand?

I remember reading something somewhere quite some time ago that seemed like a great and simple idea, but I have never tried it. This old timer used a round shafted Philips screwdriver and inserted it into the rear sprocket so that it was between the chain and the sprocket. I don't remember the...

    NC700 Insurance in California

I live in Placentia, CA just east of Cal State Fullerton and I have Geico full coverage. I have insured my 2013 NC700DCT with them for 4 years. Bodily Injury Liability $300K/$300K Property Damage Liability $100K Uninsured & Underinsured Motorists $30K/$60K Comprehensive $100 deductible...

    2014 DCT no start

Mine is a 2013 with about 12000 miles and I never put it in N before shutting it off. Never had an issue starting.

NC700X... or BMW or Gold Wing for serious touring?

I would highly recommend a BMW R1200RT in the 2010 vintage. I am not alone, by a very long shot, in claiming this is probably the best long distance Sport-Touring bike ever made. I had mine for 36000 miles and got and overall average of 50mpg here in SoCal. A really nice feature of this bike is...

2 years on and still on stock tyre

I just ordered my first set of replacement tires after 3 years and 2 months and 8800 miles. I can probably get another 1500 miles from the front tire. I'll give that some thought once I get them. I bought an exact OEM sized set but opted for Continental's Conti-Motion tires. Total cost was...

My NC gas mileage last tank

My last tank was 65.5mpg. Right about average for me here in stop and slow SoCal. Thank god I got the DCT to avoid all that bothersome shifting. :p

    Flat Battery after 420miles

I was stuck the same way a while back and had to call AAA. The driver used a 3/8" x 4" brass bolt for his positive clamp to grab on to, which he just held against the battery + terminal. The negative jumper was clamped to the frame. I now carry such a bolt in the frunk at all times.

    Hidden compartment

That's NOT a good idea. Takes WAY too long to get to it when you need it.

    coming up on 100K...

Since you got THAT many miles on your manual shift NC, I wonder if the DCT version will get closer to double that because it has 2 clutches so theoretically, each clutch is only doing half duty compared the your single clutch.

Effect of Sun on the NC700X

Since I don't have to commute with my bike I never needed an outdoor sun/weather cover but in the garage, just to keep the dust off, I use an old king sized flat bed sheet draped over the bike. BTW, you must live in a different part of SoCal than me (near Disneyland) because the average SUNNY...

    coming up on 100K...

WOW That many miles and with a 66mpg average. Unbelievable. How do you have enough free time to rack up that many miles?? Did you retire from your teaching job?

    DCT Transmission Clunky

I have been riding my 2013 DCT for just over 3 years now and under normal riding, it quietly clicks as it shifts. The only time I get any clunking is if I should abruptly throttle off as I am right at a shift point. Somewhere on this forum is an instruction sheet on doing a reset of the DCT...

Braking hard...I didn't do it right this morning and almost paid the price

I have the DCT version and it has ABS. I would never even consider a bike, ANY bike, if it didn't have ABS.
