I called a dealer here in San Diego and they said they have the new NC750X on order and expect them to arrive in June.

MSRP for the 2018 NC750X DCT is $8,699. Is it usual to pay MSRP to get one of the first bikes delivered? I've only bought used bikes before (and still looking at any used '16 or '17 California emissions models as they become available).

I don't care so much about the price since it's the ONLY new DCT model I can find in all of America that I can register in California. (And I had budgeted for a new Zero but was scared off by potential reliability/customer service issues). I just don't want to get a bike that will need lots of...

Any issues with using the battery that's in it until it starts to give problems? Could it damage the alternator?

After tracking down 28 ads for a new DCT model, I found one that is available and California compliant. It's a 2013 model with 222 miles on it. Besides changing the brake fluid and oil, any other concerns about buying a 5-year old new motorcycle?

It looks like all the 2013 models are CA compliant because I found a new 2013 DCT model in PA that has the California sticker.

Thanks for the effort! Unfortunately, I've had to learn all about the CA requirements the last week. Non-CARB, used motorcycles can be registered but they need more than 7500 miles. There are 13 other states that follow the CARB regulations, but not all of them apply them to motorcycles...

Thanks, I think you're right about the 8th character. I found the picture below on another motorcycle forum that shows Honda at one time used the 8th character for the CA vs. 49-state model. But since yours is a 4 it probably includes more models now.
