Really, REALLY dumb questions: dash and exhaust

Hi Fez! So what's the procedure for changing the message???

Any concerns buying a NEW 5-year old NC700X?

I passed on the new 2013 DCT and got a 2017 Africa Twin DCT. I found a dealer with a great price and couldn't pass it up. It's more bike than I need (i.e. NC700X), but I could afford it and it handles a lot better than I expected for the size. Now I just have to find an Africa Twin forum as...

Honda USA website updated to add the 2018 NC750X

I called a dealer here in San Diego and they said they have the new NC750X on order and expect them to arrive in June.

Honda USA website updated to add the 2018 NC750X

MSRP for the 2018 NC750X DCT is $8,699. Is it usual to pay MSRP to get one of the first bikes delivered? I've only bought used bikes before (and still looking at any used '16 or '17 California emissions models as they become available).

Any concerns buying a NEW 5-year old NC700X?

I don't care so much about the price since it's the ONLY new DCT model I can find in all of America that I can register in California. (And I had budgeted for a new Zero but was scared off by potential reliability/customer service issues). I just don't want to get a bike that will need lots of...

Any concerns buying a NEW 5-year old NC700X?

Any issues with using the battery that's in it until it starts to give problems? Could it damage the alternator?

Any concerns buying a NEW 5-year old NC700X?

After tracking down 28 ads for a new DCT model, I found one that is available and California compliant. It's a 2013 model with 222 miles on it. Besides changing the brake fluid and oil, any other concerns about buying a 5-year old new motorcycle?

    Is the 2014 NC700 a 49 or 50 state emission bike?

It looks like all the 2013 models are CA compliant because I found a new 2013 DCT model in PA that has the California sticker.

    Is the 2014 NC700 a 49 or 50 state emission bike?

Thanks for the effort! Unfortunately, I've had to learn all about the CA requirements the last week. Non-CARB, used motorcycles can be registered but they need more than 7500 miles. There are 13 other states that follow the CARB regulations, but not all of them apply them to motorcycles...

    Is the 2014 NC700 a 49 or 50 state emission bike?

I'm currently looking for any model DCT. In the last week I called to check on all the California DCT models listed in cycletrader and NONE are available.

VIN number difference between manual and DCT models?

That doesn't fit the pattern above. :-( I wonder if the 8th digit translates to: 0 = manual, 49-state 1 = manual, California compliant 4 = DCT, 49-state 5 = DCT, California compliant That system would be consistent with the '97 Nighthawk listing I found on another forum (only 0 and 1...

    Is the 2014 NC700 a 49 or 50 state emission bike?

I'm looking for a DCT model (any year) and can't find any in California. I've called dealers in Arizona, Nevada and New Jersey to ask about the ones on their website and all three told me that theirs aren't certified for California. I have calls into New York and Maryland but they didn't know...

    Is the 2014 NC700 a 49 or 50 state emission bike?

Did you buy it in Georgia? It surprises me that it has the CA sticker because I didn't think Georgia conformed to the California standards. I'm currently looking at bikes in other states and trying to find one that is compliant. I have a list of 13 states that follow the Cal standards...

VIN number difference between manual and DCT models?

How many NC700X's have you owned??? One of each type for the years 2014-2016??? Or are you a dealer? THANKS! This is very useful. I'm trying to get the VIN number now of the one I found in New York before I put down a deposit.

VIN number difference between manual and DCT models?

Thanks, I think you're right about the 8th character. I found the picture below on another motorcycle forum that shows Honda at one time used the 8th character for the CA vs. 49-state model. But since yours is a 4 it probably includes more models now.

VIN number difference between manual and DCT models?

The salesman had already verbally confirmed that he had the bike on the floor. Then when I asked him to send me pictures of the bike (since I'm buying over the phone), he sent me pictures of not only the wrong year but the wrong model! (At least it was still a Honda.) When I politely pointed...

VIN number difference between manual and DCT models?

I've located a 2016 DCT model in New York but I want to confirm that it is the DCT model before I put down a deposit (and ultimately ship to CA). The motorcycle is still in the crate in a warehouse, and the salesman is going to send me the VIN. Is there a way to tell which model it is from...

Price drop on 2017 models once 2018 NC750X comes out?

I found the list of states on this Wikipedia page: The states that have adopted the California standards are: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico (2011 model year), New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington, as well as the...

Price drop on 2017 models once 2018 NC750X comes out?

I only asked about the 2015-2017 models because that's all they had in stock. The Arizona dealer was the one that brought up the limitation and sounded pretty knowledgeable about it (and he didn't have any incentive to tell me except not wasting both our time if the sale wasn't going to work)...

Price drop on 2017 models once 2018 NC750X comes out?

Looks like that's not going to happen. I called this morning and the DCT models in AZ and NV are the "49-state" models and not compliant with California emissions standards. From what I've read elsewhere on this forum, only used bikes (>7500 miles) can be bought out of state and then...
