Forty Two, I'm sorry to hear that all the negative feedback you're getting is causing self-doubt. I know that's not a good feeling. The decision, of course, is yours so I can't recommend a course of action for you, but I am heartbroken to think that these comments might cause you to give up on...
Like most of you, I've seen many different types of riders wearing many different types of clothing (sometimes not much at all). I've been a MSF RiderCoach since 2005. I don't speak on behalf of MSF and I don't hold myself out to have some special wisdom or authority, but I have my opinions...
I wear Motoport Ultra II Air Mesh jacket and pants. It's big and bulky but has very good airflow. And most important, it provides exceptional protection. Keep in mind, it's not protective gear if all it does is allow air flow. We have to give up something to ride on hot days, but for me it won't...
Shifting in turns is not, in and of itself, a safety issue. In fact, smooth acceleration through a corner is considered an essential aspect of making safe, efficient turns, and if you're accelerating you'll probably need to upshift. So in my view, it's not unusual or unsafe at all to upshift as...
Dave,
First of all, I commend you for giving this thought and seeking information from other riders.
I have one simple rule, I protect what I value. Needless to say, that's pretty much my whole body. I wear ATGATT and spare no expense. Like OCR, I have the Motoport Kevlar Ultra Mesh 2...
From your description, it sounds like you took the Experienced RiderCourse (now called the BRC2), not the Advanced RiderCourse. The exercises in the ARC are significantly different than the ERC, which as you said are similar to the BRC.
JoeZ, I like the wide angle it affords, but I notice you have it installed what appears to be squarely in your forward line of sight. Doesn't it block your vision? Is this the recommended installation?
I'm not all that impressed. Perhaps someone should remind her of the consequences of poor choices. The link below is a testimonial from someone who unfortunately learned that the hard way, but has since become an inspiration for good choices.

I recommend you check out Motoport (Motoport: An Evolution). I've had their Kevlar Mesh gear for the last few years and wouldn't trade it. It has the best abrasion/tear strength available - on a par with competition-grade racing leathers, and armor that far exceeds CE ratings. On the rare...
Lipsee, you say this with what sounds like a sense of pride. I hope I don't sound critical; I don't mean to, but as a motorcycle safety instructor, I'm always interested in what motivates the safety choices that riders make. Do you mind sharing a bit more about what led you to these choices...
Antarius,
I had a very similar issue for a while when I first got my bike. Almost every time as I started out from a stop, I heard this "thunk" sound coming from down and to the left. It turns out, the "solution" is a bit embarrassing. After several inspections, complaining to my mechanic...
