If you are handy, brave and can find a spare seat, you can try making your own. I picked up a cheap used seat that someone butchered in an attempt to make it more comfortable. I glued on some 50# foam, shaped it with a sanding disc attached to a buffer then glued on 2" of 15ish# foam. Covered...
If you have it available, pure gas makes about a 5 MPG difference.
If you are looking for the worst fuel economy possible, ride 80 MPH into a 30 MPH headwind with your motorcycle loaded for a week long trip. Getting below 50 MPG is easy like that.
Those were selling points for me. Those and the frunk. I got a good deal because of someone who was expecting a 700CC sport bike. They traded it in with less miles than I would expect to see on a "new" demo bike.
Good luck with your post-riding activities. I am in the same boat, but involuntarily. I was recently removed from my NC700X by a girl talking on a cell phone. I know people say we control our own fate while riding, but I literally had no chance to escape this hit. Maybe some day I will give...
My money is on a dead battery. You may be able to get a few more months out of it, assuming it holds a charge long enough to make it from your charger to your motorcycle. Sooner or later it will let you down when you need it. I expect to replace the OEM battery on my 2013 this year or next...
bamamate, I used to live in Conway (moved to Tulsa in 2010). I loved the roundabouts while I was there. I had the opportunity to drive around Conway this past summer and the new ones installed after I left work great. I loved all the ones on Harkrider. They were about 75% complete when I...
Great news! Will the installation instructions be posted online somewhere? If I do decide to buy this kit, I would like to know, step by step, what I'm getting into first.
From your pictures, it may be less intense than the heated grip install.
I recently finished a 2400 mile 7 day road trip through Colorado. I would say the NC700x is very capable of touring, however it is better at daily commuting.
I'm 5'7" with a 32" inseam. Other than some DIY to make the seat more comfortable, everything fits me well. I don't even feel the need...
Colorado!
I got back from a 2,400 mile Colorado road trip.
Entering Colorado
Somewhere on Highway 92
Lake Granby
Hitchhiker on Trail Ridge (Rocky Mountain National Park)
Top of Pikes Peak
I saw a little over 83 MPG (US) and just under 50 MPG in the same trip. The high mileage was going slow through Rock Mountain National Park. The lowest was riding 75-80 MPH into a 30+ MPH headwind. I normally get 70 MPG with my daily riding.
Had my new PR3s mounted and balanced. Cleaned, lubed and checked the free play on the chain. Will test out the tires tomorrow morning.
Here is a picture of what my NC700X looked like while I ran off to the get the tires done.
Tested Gravity!
Bent my brake pedal back to normal and adjusted my Barkbusters after dropping my NC700X at the gas station. Short story short, I messed up getting it on the center stand. No real damage :o
