Next generation NC upgrade wish list

I wouldn't by choice own another manual transmission NC700/750. One was enough. When I got the DCT model three years after the manual one it's as if Honda designed the engine and transmission to complement each other.

I'm glad I chose the DCT model NC. It's so easy to ride. It doesn 't bother me when it up shifts or downshifts mid turn, because its practically imperceptible, and doesn't upset the suspension, but it's easy to circumvent in any case using the paddles, particularly on downshifts prior to a turn, or by using different modes on my 21..either sport or user which adjusts the shift points higher than standard, or just by putting it in manual and using the paddles.

I do wish it had cruise control. No, its not hard to hold onto the throttle, and I've done it on about 30 of my other motorcycles, but the electronic cruise on my FJR spoiled me. It does come in handy when you find yourself on long straight stretches for many miles.

An ambient temp gauge would be welcomed and easy for Honda to add, I did with an aquarium thermometer, but one in the gauge cluster would be nice.

A 530 chain would help with chain longevity and maintenance and wouldn't require an engineering redesign, just wider sprockets

A more effective windshield and horn would be nice, and an air cleaner that didnt require half the motorcycle to be taken apart for replacement.

I'm ok with the seat, but its obviously a sore point for many forum members ( get it? Lol), a seat redesign and padding change would be easy for Honda to do.

Its a pretty decent bike as is, and doesnt cost an arm and a leg to buy, but at $9400 plus dealer add ons, its getting close. If any changes caused the base price to go over 10 grand, it might move it into the not so good of a deal bracket I'm afraid.

Mine is a manual, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. However, it seems obvious to me that if any Honda were to have the DCT, it should be the NC. Kind of a no-brainer with the character of the bike. As for upgrades, the NC is meant to sell at a certain price level. Belt drive? If Honda did that, you’d immediately hear people complaining about the lack of options for changing gearing. (And Zero is a terrible example to give, considering their record for early belt failure and difficulty in sourcing replacements.) Shaft drive? The bike is already low-powered, and can’t afford to be heavier or slower. The NC is the NC, and if it’s not the bike for you, there are many other options. Don’t even get me started about connectivity and TCTs. It has a display, the display works. I would actually be happier if it were simple analogue gauges.
