Basic ABS will only prevent the wheel from locking and skidding. I will not prevent a stoppie.
More advanced bikes will control wheelies and stoppies, but this requires an inertial measurement unit (gyroscopes and accelerometers)
Yes, there are linked from the rear brake. But I believe it has nothing to do with ABS. If your NC is equipped with linked brakes :
- the rear brake pedal will send pressure to the rear brake and to 1/3 of the pistons of the front brake.
- the front brake lever will only send pressure to 2/3...
My 2014 NC750XD will not switch to 6th gear before 130km/h in S mode (accelerating very slowly)
This is really too high for an econo-bike.
On the other hand, in D mode it will sometimes switch to 6th before 65km/h.
Even if the engine handles it, this creates too much vibration for my own...
I have the same hand-guards.
I find the look too bulky, but the wind/rain protection is effective.
This is a very easy fit on my NC750X DCT (no problem with the Givi screen), but they increase the overall width of the bike.
According to my Honda dealer, the main advantage of the NC750 over the NC700 is the reduced vibrations and the improvement of the DCT (smoothness and better at downshifting)
My wife wasn't confortable rinding the NC750X until I installed a SHAD top-case with a back-rest.
Now she even says yes for long trips. We can ride 2hours of highway before she asks to stop.
The DCT seems to be an advantage, as there is much less "helmet knocking" than on other bikes.
Yes, Paris traffic can be quite stressful if you are not used to it. (which is my case).
I work and live out of the center, so I rarely have to take the peripherique... But when I do, I am probably the slowest rider (no lane splitting above 30km/h for me. Above that speed, cars can just switch...
Hi DB1945, nice pictures !
Do you have any compatibility issue with those two ?
- Givi tall screen.
- Bark Busters Storm hand guards
I have tried the BBStorm SW-Motech handguards, and I had to return them because they were knocking on my Givi tall screen.
Impossible to use the steering lock...
Actually, I am not too worried about the engine over-heating (the fan has switched-ON a few times while waiting in traffic. I would have actually been more worried if it didn't)
I am more interested in knowing when the engine has reached its nominal temperature and is warm enough to "twist the...
Hello Everybody,
I have been browsing this forum for months, and I have never taken the time to introduce myself... Let's fix this.
I leave near Paris France, 30 years old, Mechanical engineer and I am the happy owner of a Black NC750X DCT since Sept. 2015.
I bought the bike new, and I...
Hello All,
It's been a couple of month now that I've posted this thread.
I have finally made my choice. The NC750X will be in the garage in a few days !
Thanks for your feedback.
Yes, I have seen the back rests from Johnaday. This looks quite good !
There is one more thing that tends to bring the NC on the top of my list : the maintenance every 12.000km vs 6.000 for the V-Strom. Even if I plan to make most of the maintenance myself, this is going to make a huge...
All,
Thank you very much for your feedback. As usual, it seems there are some pros and cons... but at least it's not all cons !
With the price difference between a V-strom and NC750X, I could purchase a better seat and back rest.
Bamamate, if you can find this link, it would like to see...
Hello Old Can Ride,
Thanks for your quick reply. I will take a look at the Russell Day Long seat (the name sounds promising !)
Obviously, trying the bike is a must before buying. But things like suspension and engine behavior while riding loaded on mountain road will be difficult to assess...
