After over 3" of rain yesterday, today dawned sunny and dry but very windy with 22 mph sustained and gusts to 50 mph. A gust literally almost blew me over at a stop light. Some water running across the road in places. Today's 49 mile ride @ 60 degrees was like riding a rodeo bronc yee haw! lol
You is a real man…

Still getting frost at night and a dusting of snow above 6000ft, which is really weird for SoCal late March, but with the day in the 60s I went down to PCH and rode through Malibu and up across the moutains.
Pacific was beautiful. Hills are green or mustard-yellow. Plenty of running water in places were few had ever seen any.
50 miles total, ten miles of which were Latigo Canyon, where the longest straight might be 300ft, maybe.
Took it easy on the throttle, 72mpg. Good day.

Tried out a new windshield (GP Kompozit) and a new exhaust (Akrapovic). I wasn't really shopping for an exhaust but one came up used that was ridden for a couple of miles and taken off. It was half the price of a new one and looked brand new, I can't pass up a good deal.

The Akrapovic sounds a little different, and seems about as quiet as the stock can. I didn't remove the baffle, but might try that on the next ride. Supposedly it adds a tiny bit of performance, and is about 2 lbs. lighter than stock. It felt a little peppier and throaty when I gave it the business, but on the highway it was hard to hear anything because of all the wind noise (breezy and upper 50s)......which brings me to this whole windshield thing. I have had 3 so far in my short ownership - a Puig (that came w/ the bike), a CalSci 'Sport' and the GP. The CalSci seems to edge out the others but I'm not into the look of it. I'll have to stew on this.

I'm looking into the Ixil L3XB Dual Hyperlow since you can tune the db killers to get a less than sewing machine sound. Price point though you can't beat anything at 50% and only a few miles.

So I just changed the pegs to Knight Design and they are everything I had hoped for! Also switched the grips to Performance Grip 737, I think lol. Not big mods but hoping to help with comfort.

I really like those pegs, but kind of spendy. I think the ones from SW-Motech are in my future.

That company wasn't even on my radar but they look pretty nice. One of theirs looks like a copy of the Akrapovic sans the carbon fibre man-jewelry.

In "what did you do" news, I rode into my office today via the notorious Hwy 17 (CA-17). A paltry 36 mi. round trip but it's very curvy and heavily traffic'd by your typical CA whacko drivers. Slow down? What's that mean? (starts texting)

I stopped off at the post office to ship a box and big dumb me parked in a big dumb not-level spot and the bike fell down trying to tip toe it backing out. A passerby got me back up thankfully.....I'm now an official member of the 'DUMPKINS McBIKE CLUB'! No pics due to shame

I installed a GPS tracker on my 2015 NC700X today. Parking on the street is sketchy, no matter how beefy a lock you have.
