All Motorcycle Gear Sold in the European Union Must Be Certified

Looks like you have time to start saving up.

It is yet unclear how long it will take until the new standards are created and implemented, at least at a theoretical level. An optimistic estimation sees the entire process taking between two and three years. Whether certification will drive the prices up is also one of the things we'd like to know.

Such an optimistic start to that article "Riders in Europe will be better informed..." As if having information readily available means people will read it. Wonder how much this will affect pricing in the US - certainly the gear companies who sell in both places will pass on those testing costs.

Only a matter of time before anything they wear will have to be certified. Imagine you have to get a certified rain shell to go over your certified armored jacket that goes over the certified heated vest.

And if the liberals have their way, it won't be long before such rules arrive on our shores. Riders should fight this now while the chance to avoid mandatory gear happens.
