hammock stand

Today I built a hammock stand to see if hammock camping will work for me. I have a always slept in a tent when camping, but I am intrigued with the idea of sleeping while suspended between two trees.

If it were my choice I'd never go back to the ground. Sadly I'm married, so very little is my choice.

Any solo trip I'm on though I'm in a hammock.

Figure out how to stay warm before you try to spend your first night out though... in the event of cold butt syndrome the back pad from your jacket (if you have one) can be used to provide some insulation and cut down on the breeze.

I considered a hammock very seriously, however I went with a tent because I could see myself having to stop somewhere where I would not have the ability to hang the hammock up. Last weekend was an example of that. We stayed at someone's farm, and there was no where I could have hung a hammock without being a quarter mile away from everyone else and at the edge of one of the freshly fertilized fields...
