Honda Luggage and ignition - can you set up for one key?

I just finished installing my rack and mounts for my top box and side bags. The side bag comes with the re-keyable cylinders and the top box does not. In the interest of updating this thread I pulled the cylinder from the top box while I was setting up the cylinders for my side boxes.

The re-keyable cylinders will not work in the top box. They will fit in the hole but are about 4mm longer than the top box cylinder preventing the mechanism from latching correctly.

On the other hand, you can re-key the side cylinders to match the top box key.

Mine is now set up with the short (top box) key opening the top box and side bags and the ignition key opening the frunk.

Thank you for the information. Very helpful to know. Since I am STILL waiting for my back ordered parts, I have not done anything yet.

Your solution is almost as good as one key in my opinion. You would not have to remove the key from the ignition to open one of the boxes. I am probably going to take my top box (if it ever comes ) to a locksmith as a last resort. And I will try to get more information to post here if I can.

Again thanks for posting

I got tired of waiting so I called Rocky Mountain ATV/MC and now they are telling me they will finally have my last two items in stock on the 18th. Then they will ship to me, so I will be lucky if I have them on the 20th.

I definitely would not have ordered from them if I had known this in advance. They do not keep their word to price match, and they also do not keep their promises regarding shipping times.

I will never order from them again unless the items are in stock and ready to ship.

I got real lucky. Dealer I bought bike from had a set of luggage they had installed for someone last year, but then the guy didnt like them so they took them off and had it all hanging around. Sold me the saddlebags along with the rear carrier and mounts and brackets all for 400$ and it all works with my ignition key.

Congratulations on a great buy, Russell733!
If/when you get a top box, you'll find that the ignition key cannot be made to operate it, unless by some chance the part that Starwise linked to can be obtained from Japan and made to work.

The picture above is what came with my saddle bags and not being a lock smith found the instructions very confusing. So each bag has to be configured for the ignition key. The first was a like doing a very hard jig saw puzzle but finally got it. For the second bag, get three dishes and put the different lock things into each of them. So when it showed some sticking up or down I could take new ones from the dishes and had it done in two tries. Hope this helps?
