How to secure Honda OEM top box

I have the OEM Honda top box on my 2014 NC. Is there anyway to secure it to the bike. I removed it for the first time today and realized, that even when locked, all you do is push the red button and the box pops off. I use it for my helmet and really don't like that someone can walk off with it so quickly. Aside from drilling holes, the only solution I can think of is to run a cable through the handle and attach it to the bike. Any thoughts?

The box normally locks with a key. It can’t be opened or removed when locked. The lock mechanism must be broken or disconnected.

I just played with it again and it locked onto the bike. Guess it was unlocked before and i didn't realize. Thanks
