I am “the Admin’s Wife” and I want to share with you a project that is near and dear to my heart.
Over a year ago I came in contact with a group that rescue’s street dogs in Brazil. As you may or may not know Admin and I have 3 dogs. In fact 3 dogs and 2 cats. We would probably have more but don’t have the space. My heart breaks when I see how horrible some animals are treated and if I could I would save them all.
Anyway, I began to follow the work of a couple in Brazil that spend their time rescuing street dogs from horrendous situations. One dog that comes to mind was where the abuser threw boiling water into his eye and ear and the burns left such bad tissue that maggots began eating away at it. This poor dog was found on the streets starving. The work of this rescue restored him to health and he has since been adopted and is living a wonderful life in the US. There are many stories like this.
Jan and Carlos who run this shelter lost their home during the Floods in Brazil years ago. They are currently about to be evicted from the house they are renting because it is being sold. This leaves them on the street with over 50 dogs if another location is not found. A group of us are trying to raise funds so that we can help them buy a farmhouse that would allow them to continue their work.
Please check out their website: http://www.dogsinbrazil.org/ and Facebook Page : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dogs-in-Brazil/199454320100596 you can also follow them on Twitter: https://twitter.com/emmydib
If you would like to help out, or are interested in their work, or know of any organizations that would like to sponsor this work effort, please pass this information on.
Thank you for your help.
Warm regards,
Leanna

- Founded by Jan (originally from England)and Carlos Cabral, Dogs in Brazil is a small shelter that rescues street dogs in Brazil. They lost their home during the flood and have since had to move from place to place. Despite being in dire financial circumstances, they take in all kinds of dogs that need them most, from tiny puppies to old ones, and pay for their medical care, feeding, and housing. They also take in many cases of unspeakably abused animals--Simon, who had boiling water thrown on his eye and ear , Murphy, who was slashed with a machete; and a litter of puppies who had actually had their eyes poked out--to name just a few. The goal of this page is to raise enough money to help Jan and Carlos buy a permanent home for them and the animals so that they can continue their wonderful work and not be left homeless with 51 dogs who will not survive back on the streets some are elderly or disabled. Please find it in your heart to donate if you can every $ helps and share their plight to everyone you know hoping for a miracle or two here but they say if you beleive in miracles they do happen!
