It was OEM, and it was wrapped in the shrink wrap around the filter, yes. It surprised me when it fell out as I cut the plastic and removed the filter. I had laid a piece of cardboard down and noticed when it fell. All of the Honda OEM filters, for cars and motorcycles, come skin wrapped in plastic with no room for anything but the filter. Was it really a Honda OEM filter?
No, hard plastic, and I could find no correlation in size between filter and piece of plastic. Thanks thoughIs it rubber? Could it be a plug that goes in the threaded opening of the filter for protecting the threads and became dislodged? Seems redundant as the filter is shrink wrapped in plastic. I haven't bought an OEM filter as I use automotive filters which are easier to procure and are slightly longer in length.
